This is the bomb!

November 20th, 2009 by Shauna

You may never have any use for some of the products you see being rolled out every day from companies across the globe but it is still way-beyond cool to hear about them. Sure, the ODDS of a bowling ball coming crashing through your wall is probably unlikely, but what about a stupid driver who veers off the road? Wonder if this bomb-proof wallpaper would do the trick?

The wallpaper your granny never had
news:lite

A wallpaper has been released that promises to protect a wall from a wrecking ball or bomb blast — should you need it.

The X-Flex paper — developed with the U.S. military — is not like the wallpaper your Granny had in the '70s, but is more suited to protecting soldiers in Iraq.

091117_wallpaper
It is made from Kevlar-tye sheet, which is held between two sheets of elastic polymer wrap that act to absorb energy of a blast or impact.

This means that after users roll it out onto a wall, just like a conventional wall paper, it will offer incredible levels of security.

The only problem we can see is that as soon as you put the wallpaper up, you are going to want to test it with a wrecking ball, like in this video below...

-----

And here are more innovative products that will have you just licking your lips (no pun intended)!

Picture 6
Bacon-Flavored Mmmvelopes are envelopes with adhesive that tastes like bacon. So when you seal an envelope, you get the taste of bacon...

Picture 9
From the same great minds that brought you Baconnaise and Bacon Salt comes this microwaveable bacon-flavored popcorn, with just the right hint of butter and real bacon taste.

-----

And just a reminder tonight is the Second Annual Triad Party at Fort Street Bar & Grill in downtown. Party gets rolling at 6 p.m. but feel free to show up at any time. We have the private room in the back of the bar! Hope to see you all there!

  11. sally:

Good Morning teejay, OL, and Ynaku!
... and everyone else waking up!

Kevlar wall paper. hmmm, ideas spinning around my BEE brain.

Bacon flave envelopes? Have you seen that email about "don't lick envelopes" cuz it has rat spit on it (sorry, I know it's early A.M.) and it could make you sick? I think critters would be only more attracted to this ... where/how would you store it in your house? Refrigerator?

Bacon popcorn. hmmm. Gotta think about that one. Yearrrs ago I had a set of popcorn flavoring sprinkles. One was BBQ. It was really ono.

  12. Scott:

    Good morning :)

  13. M:

Good morning teejay, OL, Ynaku, che, sally, Scott and da hive!

I hope to see most of you tonight at da pah-tay! :)

  14. NaPueo:

Nice video but there appears to be no rebar or cement inside the walls to help support it.

  15. M:

    Good morning NaPueo!

For those who said, "maybe the next time I'll come to a pah-tay", well this is the next time! :) see you there! :)

  16. Ynaku:

  17. matt:

morning all. have fun tonight. don't worry about us stuck on the cold biiig island, not able to share in the warmth of the triad pah-tay. ;)

  18. teejay:

I think we could use some of that reinforcement paper in some of the restrooms where I work. I swear you can walk in and it sounds like the frontlines of Afganistan or Iraq. Now if they could only invent paper that can take away the smell.

  19. Shauna:

Morning! Already looking forward to my pre-party nap!! :D

  20. KAN:

Guuuuud morning Hive! Boy, I wish I could go to the Triad pahtay tonight.

Bacon . . . the candy of meats (stole that line from Sweetie). Seattleites seem to have an obsession with it. Archie McPhee sells a lot of bacon novelty items, including band-aids, pennants, gum, etc. (Braddah Lance, if you're reading this, you guys gotta go Archie McPhee's while you're here.) There's an upscale lunch wagon called Skillet that sells BACON JAM - wow, do I want to try THAT.

  21. Kage:

    Good Morning All!

BACON! Reminds me of the Beggin Strips commercial.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CErapf79rqM

I want to try that popcorn. Sounds ono.

@KAN - Bacon Jam...mmmmm. That does sound good. I forgot about Archie McPhee. I gotta remember that the next time I visit my bro in Washington. Saw it on the Travel Channel.

Have fun at the party tonight. If I get out early enough I will try to swing by. No promises though.

  22. visitor:

    Good morning! Happy "Furlough" Friday.

  23. Eli:

    Good morning and happy Friday!!

If they made that kevlar sheet for cars, I wonder how many lives would be saved.

I still wouldn't lick the bacon flavored envelopes it's still glue. But I would love to try the bacon flavored popcorn. That bacon on the popcorn bag reminds me of Mr. Hankey. haha. :P

Hope everyone has fun at the party tonight!!

  24. Eli:

M: What's for breakfast? All I had was a bowl of cereal.

  25. David In Oregon:

YM-QB: Pre-party nap? Hah? You mean you no can handle without a nap, must be getting old eh? Oooh nah nah nah.

  26. EMM386:

BACON POPCORN!!!! I want some. That's genius.

  27. EMM386:

    Oh BTW, morning everyone.

  28. Scott:

Have a great time tonight! I'm off to my first job interview. I bought a tie but forgot how to tie it, since it's beeen so many years since I wore a tie. So I'm going tie less :(
It's pouring down rain and I just know the first thing the interviewer will say to break the ice will be a comment on the weather vs. Hawaii weather!

"not used to this weather, huh?"
    or something cheesy like that.

"bet you miss Hawaii on a day like this?"

I could explain what a 90 degree voggy day is like, but I won't go there.

  29. David In Oregon:

Bacon? Is there anything that doesn't taste good when bacon is added? The doughnut place I was at last night has bacon maple bars.

  30. anklebiters:

    Mornin'...off to PX..

What time is it starting tonight :?: 6pm :?

  31. M:

@Eli, todays breakfast is eggs, rice, steak, sausage, BBQ chicken and fried fish.

  32. M:

Everything taste better with bacon. :)

  33. David In Oregon:

Scott: I don't know if you're serious about not knowing how to tie the tie, but if you are serious, go to this site and scroll down:

    http://www.menswearhouse.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ContentAttachmentView_-1_10601_10051__39163_10653_FirstTimeBuyers.html_newBrowser?displayNav=0

  34. David In Oregon:

M: Sheesh, you sound like you have a breakfast buffet over there. :-D

  35. Eli:

M:Can you fax me a plate. Any chance for some bacon? :)

I need to go to your workplace every Friday just for breakfast. :D

I might be getting 4 furlough days starting next February to May. 1 day a month so mayBEE if it's furlough Friday I will fly in for breakfast.

  36. M:

@David In Oregon, I guess you can call it a buffet, you make your own plate....

  37. Shauna:

David In Oregon: I don't know if sorbet and bacon would taste good... And yes, I am old! :( But at least not MLC age!! ;)

Scott: Good luck in the interview!!! I don't know how to tie a tie either!

KAN: Bacon jam sounds interesting... don't you wish you thought of all these products first? BTW, I got the goodies! You're so sweet! And yes, I'm the sour one! ;)

EMM386: I totally want to try that bacon popcorn!! MMM!! At the movie theaters I sometimes get that nacho cheese powder to sprinkle on...

  38. KAN:

@Scott: we're thinking good thoughts for you. Geev 'um!

@QB: oh good. I sent my mom's b-day gifts at the same time, so I know she'll get hers in time too! Have fun tonight you guys!

  39. matt:

Down in San Diego, I ate at a restaurant that had a bacon dessert. Bacon ice cream (vanilla based ice cream with bacon bits in it) with bacon brittle dipped in chocolate. the bacon was not overwhelming and the dish was great.

sitting on my desk here at work, I have a Vosges Haute Chocolat Mo's Bacon Bar that I picked up in Chicago a couple of weeks ago. haven't opened it yet but the call gets stronger every day. this is the milk version (yuck), but they have a dark version on their website.

  40. visitor:

@Eli #23 - I thought the same thing about using the material in cars. The technology is there for really safe cars (NASCAR cars can wreck at 200 mph and the driver walks away), but it would be too cost prohibitive.

@M - You must work at a very open office...cooking smells must permeate the building.

  41. turk fontaine:

Bacon! The gateway meat! I like mine has hard as the bulletproof wallpaper.

  42. Creative:

So the party is tonight? I thought it was last week? So do I need to RSVP or can I just show up?

  43. M:

@Creative, just show up! See you there! :)

  44. HNL2LAS:

I can't BEElieve its already a year later from the last Triad Pahtay! I feel like I've known you all forever already! bhaaha.. hmm... mayBEE too long for some of you! hee hee.. nahhhh

  45. BananaFysh:

    Good Morning Hive!

    Oooh! Bacon! :)
    I lurve bacon! :D

I'd like to try that popcorn, but I dunno about those envelopes. :? I might lick off all the adhesive and wind up taping the envelope shut.

  46. BananaFysh:

Awwww, I cannot make it to this pahtay! :(

    Have fun tonight everyone! :)

  47. matt:

BF, try popping some pop corn in bacon fat instead of oil. mmmm.

  48. BananaFysh:

    @matt -- hm, that sounds like a plan! :)

Sprinkle some Bacon Salt on that too, and I'd better book an appointment for some angioplasty. ;)

  49. Shauna:

Creative: Woo-hoo! Looking forward to meeting you tonight! Hopefully you don't see us and then run away! ;)

turk fontaine: Crispy bacon is good but I don't like it rock hard or burnt!!

matt and BananaFysh: Oh yeah, never thought of popping popcorn in bacon oil!! Cool!

  50. Shauna:

Eli: Sorry to hear about your furloughs... They need that wallpaper for cars AND airplanes! I don't have to fly in fear that way!

HNL2LAS: I can't BEElieve a year also went by!! It's more amazing we never met our fellow musketeer munch! :(

Ynaku: When you get on OC16, don't forget to plug O&E!!

  51. David In Oregon:

QB: They need that wallpaper for BBDs

  52. matt:

I do it sometimes. usually just go with extra virgin olive oil. verrry niiice.

  53. snow:

    good afternoon HIVE!

bacon popcorn sounds gooooood! my DIL made honey-bacon (HIVE appropriate bacon! woo hoo!) wrapped asparagus the other night... OMG! it was so good! i only had one, but i wanted more!!

shucks, i won't be able to make it to tonight's party! :( boo! hope all you BEEs have fun!

ankles - hope you're enjoying your visit! sorry i'll miss seeing my golf partner (hey, just remember that the snowfall was caused by the blindingly brilliant golf swing of my partner!!!)!

HNL2LAS & qb - sure seems like more than a year since we met at the first party!! awww, qb... musketeers will be missing in action tonight! :(

  54. Ynaku:

"Eh Tiny. some good yeah da chips. Oh man, dis cookies melt in da mouth. So ono. Speaking of ono, you ever wen try check out da blogs on Honolulu Advertiser Odds and Ends? Brah you gotta check dem guys out. So funny. Give you sore stomach. Not like dis cookies and chips. Some guud yeah. Melt in da mouth."

    How's dat Shauna? Good plug?

Ynaku...............still working :P OT baby

  55. Eli:

Shauna: I didn't think about the planes...that's a good idea too. I'm always amazed how something that heavy defies gravity.

Yeah it sucks to have furlough days but I would rather have furlough days instead of a pay cut.

  56. Shauna:

Ynaku: Ooh, very very smooth!!! :D But it might get tricky if he follows up with a question about what makes it so funny... I'd hate for you to have to say poo and pee, farts, balls, weirdos, etc. Cause we got more substance than that!

snow: No!! So sad you won't BEE there! Honey bees won't BEE representing! :( But I understand... And I love bacon-wrapped asparagus!

  57. David In Oregon:

YM-QB: How can it possibly be tricky explaining the Hive to a guy with a name like "Tiny" or "Nitro" ?

  58. Ocean Lover:

    Good Afternoon!

    Ynaku.....go ask Tiny...."Eh, Tiny.......so how you got dat name? What's TINY?" ;-)

BEEfore 9 a.m. we went to SAM's, Times, and Foodland. We went back out and just returned from COSTCO IWILEI.

That place is NUTS! Cars all ovah da place with NO RESPECT and they carry dat attitude into da store.

    OL........BEE traumatized

  59. visitor:

OL- I don't know where you live, but next time try the Hawaii Kai Costco. During week days, a nice leisurely drive on Kalanianaole Hwy (along the 'ocean'). Less hectic parking lot and generally nice people.

  60. David In Oregon:

OL: Afta dealin with Weerdoh at wurk, I don't know how you can evah BEE traumatized.

  61. KAN:

@OL and DiO: "Tiny" is his given name, as his middle name "Nitro." I went same elementary school as him and my mom took a class from his dad (I think was a ceramics class). His dad is/was a real character. Tiny's sister's name is "Windy."

  62. M:

@visitor, you are exactly right about Hawaii Kai Costco. It's totally the opposite from Iwilei. Even the weekends is not that hectic.

To bad you won't BEE able to make it tonight. :(
We are there till 11 or 12 so you still can come later...

  63. David In Oregon:

KAN: Yeah, I know Tiny Nitro is his name. Initially, I thought it was some crazy joke, like J. Akuhead Pupule. :-D Later on, I found out it was real. I guess it ain't bad though. Given the names some Hollywood types give their kids, Tiny isn't really that bad.

  64. Ynaku:

Tiny = da buggah shorter than me :P Little bit taller than Shauna

  65. buddahbelly:

    Aloha,
Bacon flavored gumming on envelopes? As a printer, I can tell you that roaches love to eat the gum off envelopes. Keep your envelopes where they can't get to them or you may be licking some of what roaches leave behind. Super icky!

  66. David In Oregon:

Tiny is taller than Shauna? Sheesh, jus' exactly how little is da Queen?

  67. Ynaku:

    DiO 4'10" :P

  68. David In Oregon:

Ynaku: The QB is one of the Munchkins?

  69. Ynaku:

DiO, check out the first pic. I'm 5'8"

    http://oddsandends.honadvblogs.com/2009/11/09/happy-18-months/

  70. turk fontaine:

David in Oregon: Shauna is, I believe, a size zero, used to be 4 was the smallest I'd ever heard of, then came 2 and then zero. My wife, whose a 10 gave me a store mannequin for my birthday one year, so I'd have a perfect size 8 who never said "no"

  71. David In Oregon:

Ynaku: ai sus! When she first posted that pic, I was a$$-uming you were ova 6 feet tall.

  72. Ynaku:

    Nah they all short

  73. David In Oregon:

Ynaku: Eh, dats good to know. BL is heading this way next month. If I can meet up with him, I will. Now I know I should be looking fo one really short bugga.

  74. EMM386:

@Shauna: Times McCully has this White Cheddar powder for popcorn that is good too...

  75. Scott:

BL's pretty short, but he's got the chutzpa of a taller fella. My initial impression was, even that guy is shorter than me, I'd like to stay on his good side :)

Scott....... taller than BL, but not tougher.

DiO-even though I didn't wear a tie, the interview went well. Very well, actually. I have a second interview Monday morning for an assistant division manager position.

  76. teejay:

To all those who are attending the party have a great time and stay safe!!!!

  77. che:

    Shauna,

something came up and I can't make it tonight.

have fun and I be waiting for the pictures.

  78. Shauna:

zzzzzzzzzz....gee, that pre-party nap left me feeling more tired! Do power naps really work? Or do they only work if it's 20 minutes? Anyways...

buddahbelly: Ack! Your story about the roaches reminds me of that urban legend of that woman in California who got sick after cutting her tongue while licking an envelope infested with cockroach eggs. A few days later her doctor supposedly discovered a live cockroach growing inside her tongue... After hearing that, even though it's false, I would never want to lick an envelope again though I haven't done so for years. BTW, do you guys print brochures, those tri-folded, color information sheets?

David In Oregon: Don't BEElieve Ynaku that I'm only 4'10. I'm way taller than that! And apparently you thought so, too. Guess it must BEE that everyone is not much taller than me in the photos that are posted!!

  79. David In Oregon:

Scott: Glad to hear of the interview. Good luck on the 2nd one.

From the sound of it, BL kinda reminds me of some small dogs. You see the beeeg Great Dane remaining quiet and a bit fearful, hiding behind its owner. Watch the small dog, and that's the one that is barking and charging everything in sight.

  80. Shauna:

Scott: Congrats! Hope the job pays well and has good benefits! :D Are you wearing a tie to that interview? Did the interviewee ask about the weather?

teejay: I guess that means you're not planning to show up! :(

EMM386: Do they really? Is it the same size as the movie theater ones? Cause I'm sure the ones at the theater are way overpriced!! So, see you tonight???

turk fontaine: 8 is the perfect size??? ;)

  81. Shauna:

Eli: Yeah, I've always wondered how planes could fly and boats float...

Ocean Lover: I guess you can sleep in tomorrow since you did all your shopping today!!

matt: So did you give in to the temptation and eat your Vosges Haute Chocolat Mo's Bacon Bar?

  82. BananaFysh:

    Vosges bacon bar? :)

I like that one too! That's the one I bought from Whole Foods and brought to the Hive lunch that one day, remember?

    Yummeh! :D

  83. M:

    Almost pah-tay time! :)

  84. Ynaku:

Hey Scott, Wishing you well on your 2nd interview. Good Chance :P

Ynaku............keeping company with those not at da pahty tonight.

  85. teejay:

Shauna: My son is with me this weekend and his cousin's are away on a camping trip so I'm keeping him company. Say hi to everyone for me.

  86. Scott:

    Mahalo :)

Yes, the first "break the ice" question was about the weather.
I shall wear a tie to the interview on Monday.

I could say something about her Chamongas, but I won't go there!

Scott....tried hard to keep his eyes at eye level during his interview :)

  87. Ynaku:

    Eh Shauna... 4'10 3/8"

  88. Ynaku:

    Did Scott say Chyamongas?????? 8O 8O 8)

  89. David In Oregon:

QB: Are you like some of da local BEEs? Height = 5'6" tall. Height minus puffy hair = 5'3" tall. Height minus puffy hair and shoes = 4'11" tall.

  90. sally:

I thought Shauna was kinda tall. Aren't you 5 feet something? If you can put a number after the 5', that's tall to me.

  91. David In Oregon:

auwe, i forgot and used the "S" word....now another post is in moderation.

  92. M:

@teejay, why don't you bring your son to the pah-tay too?

  93. Shauna:

    teejay: Yeah, bring your son!!

sally: I'll let you think that!

David In Oregon: Nice theory. But I never wear more than one-inch sandals. My feet can't handle!!

Ynaku: You are way off — by many many millimeters!!

...leaving for the party soon!! I'll check in later!

  94. matt:

guys, remember...the head tilt subtracts a few inches.

  95. Scott:

    Yes...chamongas :)
The lady was about 45 yrs old, nice looking gal. She was what we here in No. Cal call a Snow Bunny. Rich wife syndrome. Fake chamongas probably.

    Nice gal, though.

Plus, I'm interviewing for HER job on Monday ;)

...she knows it. She's getting promoted. It's all good :)

  96. David In Oregon:

Scott: fist bump on chamonga usage. In fact, make that a double ;-)

  97. Ynaku:

Shauna is REALLY tall 149.86 centimeters

    s8008 :P yes

  98. David In Oregon:

    Ynaku: Dass reallllllllllllly tall

  99. matt:

wait, wait, wait...Scott went in to interview and got to use the chamongas? interview must have gone well.

  100. teejay:

As much as I love the hive my son would be bored to death. He's at that age. We might go to Gyotaku tonight for dinner.

  101. turk fontaine:

Shauna: 8 is the perfect size......in TEXAS!

  102. turk fontaine:

is everybody having fun? take lots of pics for the O&E i'll be logging on from El Paso, TX tomorrow. then it's back to SF. won't be back on the volcano til April.

  103. Scott:

At one point, my eyes drifted south, toward Chamongaland. I caught myself and told myself..."this isn't Friday night at a bar (Moose's, 2003). Focus on the eyes."

    (bad Family Guy joke)
    Why did God invent boobs?
So a man has something to look at when he talks to a women!

Turk: a size 8 would count as obese in California.

  104. Ynaku:

    So only us guys here?

Buss out da Kegerator (no Preemo please) new keg of Heinie Lite.

Here's some opihi, smoked pork and pipi kaula. Can somebody go steal some of BL's kim chee?

  105. HNL2LAS:

    Me BEE here too!!

  106. David In Oregon:

BL's kim chee? Gee, maybe I should have him bring dat up hea too when he comes up. :-D

  107. Ynaku:

Hey HNL2LAS. Howzit? Sorry, I toggling between FB and Twitter to see if Rod dem sending stuff.

  108. Shauna:

Oops we ate all the Kim chee!!! Jack brought guava chiffon and dobash cakes as well as some chocolate bacon bars!!! We met a new guy tonight!! Folks are singing karaoke now!!

  109. Shauna:

  127. sally:

    Good Morning Everyone!

    Coffee, more coffee. Need coffee.

    BRB.

  128. sally:

Next time we'll come prepared with more poi balls for NKHEAs performance.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK9iI3Dar10

Paula got some mean poi ball moves. Me thinks she got a stash at home to practice with.

  129. M:

For those who didn't go to the pah-tay last night, you missed out, soooo much fun!

The restaurant had to tell us to leave because they want to close but nobody wanted to go....

Don't miss the next one next Sat. when Ynaku comes to town from the BI.

  130. sally:

What? They had to blink da lights? hahaha Kitchen closed, everybody go home.

Where is next week's one gon BEE? Is anklez still here? He cannot leave until the temp drops to 50. He promised.

  131. M:

@sally, they didn't blink the lights, they actually told us they will be closing in 10 min. I think they actually closes at 9pm.

Not sure where the next pah-tay will be on sat. I heard maybe Kaimuki Grill but will have to wait and see. anklebiters will be here for another 2 weeks...

  132. Ynaku:

Go back sleep you pahty animals.

Hey OL, das da Nori Chicken hsib always crave. Me? I prefer the regular fried chicken with da crispy skin. :P

  133. Shauna:

Morning! Dang, I got up earlier than I wanted!!

Ynaku: Ooh, I want some of that nori chicken!!! :D So we wanted to get together next Saturday night for you. One idea tossed out was Kaimuki Grill. But did you have any other places in mind? We held on to our prizes so we can have some games when you're here! And that picture of those turkeys cracked me up!!

sally: So the search party did go looking for you? Haha!

M: Hope you had enough to eat even though the kitchen closed early....

Ocean Lover: Switch to Lifetime Channel instead!

teejay: We missed you last night. NKHEA had his kids there!

  134. David In Oregon:

Ynaku: Aren't you supposed to put a leash on your pets? ;-)

  135. sally:

    Hey Gang!

We get to meet Ynaku too? wow, what a great month this is turning into!
anklez must have choke vacation time, he's here for two more wks?!

@Shauna: When I walked in they said "must have had karaoke where she went". hahaha! I really meant to leave at 8:00. hoo boy.

DKHEA #1 & 2 were there. (Dey can hea)

Thank you Paula for directions out of "the strange land". Rod tried to give Man Directions, which totally confused me. Then you said "turn right, keep going and you'll hit Ward Ave". Gee, so easy, men don't get it. bhahaha!

  136. David In Oregon:

sally: what is "Man Directions" and how come it's hahd fo you fo undahstand?

  137. teejay:

Shauna: I've met NKHEA's kids and they are much older than my son. I think his kids can legally drink alcohol just like dad.

  138. Ukuhead:

Looks like I missed out on some good times, but I got home at about10:30...

  139. Shauna:

Ukuhead: We haven't seen you in a while! Things must really BEE busy for you!

teejay: That's true. Well mayBEE we'll see you next week when Ynaku is in town!

  140. teejay:

    Go Warrior's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

'Stay away from the dark place'

  141. teejay:

UH fumbles the ball on the first series.

  142. teejay:

UH intercepts on the next play.

  143. teejay:

UH is running the ball well. I hope they don't break another qb.

  144. teejay:

UH goes on fourth down and comes up empty.

  145. teejay:

    UH TD!!!!!!!

  146. Ynaku:

DiO, yeah those Turkeys, no like stay one place and they doots all over the driveway :x

Get ukumillions of them turkeys roaming near the highway cause they know you no can shoot them. The ones I took pics of is a bunch that hangs around our office in Kamuela. They guys feed um old rice. Gotta fatten them up for next week.

  147. wade:

"you fumble my football, and i will put my foot in your john brown hind parts...and then you will run a mile" -coach boone, Remember the Titans

  148. wade:

    whiskey tango foxtrot??!!!!

  149. wade:

does hawaii not have a place kicker?

  150. wade:

Nice to see Tomey again. Hear he's retiring at the end of the season. Been a class act as long as I can remember. Aloha, coach!

  151. teejay:

wade: you're right about Tomey. What channel are you watching the game on?

  152. matt:

never knew UH had a jv team. that's where this defense is from, right?

  153. wade:

catching the game on espn360.com. much better than pay per view.

  154. Scott:

Checking in again to see if my braddah teejay is going to the dark place. Don't go there! :)
My Buckeyes beat Michigan for the 6th straight year. Yippee!

  155. teejay:

It's 10-7 UH in the fourth. Kinda like watching a baseball game. Shane Austin having a rough day reading his options.

  156. wade:

    i don't think shane reads...

  157. wade:

he wants the middle, he goes to the middle.

  158. wade:

it's possible we're giving tomey a retirement present.

  159. teejay:

scott: Congrats on your OSU win. Must be nice to have a team that plays and wins on a regular basis to cheer for.

teejay.............staying away from the dark place.

  160. matt:

    amazing,
every time I check the game on espn360, the spartans are driving or scoring. seems like it's only when I'm watching that their offense works because it's a pretty low scoring game. i must be jinxing uh's d.

  161. teejay:

matt: Stop watching the game and I'll make sure you get all the updates.

  162. teejay:

    What's the matter with #77?!?!?!?!?!

    Mmmmphffff sufffffkk!

  163. teejay:

'Stay away from the dark place, stay away from the dark place.'

  164. wade:

snap the ball, catch the ball...

  165. wade:

    hawaii offense 101

  166. teejay:

Mederios is making some nice catches. Austin reminds me of Graunke somewhat.

  167. wade:

assuming hawaii scores and hawaii's defense can't stop san jose st...does tomey go for 2 to win the game?

  168. wade:

jackson was open, had space...had hands of stone...

  169. wade:

scott: ohio st is my bright spot every year as well...USC always beats them to start the season...

  170. teejay:

wade: You were wondering if UH has a kicker? If you see him let me know.

  171. wade:

oh that's why we go for it on 4th and 20...

  172. wade:

this isn't going to end well...

  173. wade:

welllll...at least the senate is going to debate healthcare reform...

  174. teejay:

UH recovers a fumble with less than one minute to go!!!!!!!!!!!

  175. wade:

hawaii needs to get it into scott enos's range...what is that...inside the 5?

  176. teejay:

    Looks like OT. 10-10.

  177. wade:

hawaii won the toss and took the ball first?

  178. teejay:

    UH TD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  179. wade:

nice option...good call by the K5 crew.

  180. wade:

    now...does sjst go for 2?

  181. wade:

    you have to double juravich

  182. matt:

    did they score?

  183. wade:

    lack of discipline...

  184. teejay:

    UH wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  185. teejay:

    UH wins 17-10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  186. wade:

    i need a brew...

  187. matt:

    good thing I stopped watching.

  188. teejay:

matt: From now on you can't watch any UH football games, okay?

  189. matt:

looking at the schedule, that may be a blessing.

  190. matt:

    still alive for bowling, though.

  191. Ukuhead:

Shauna: yeah. been pretty busy... even forgot about turd tuesday.

Maybe we can set up a lunch with ankles before he leaves... Ankles: when you going be in Hawaii until? Or maybe we can go golf?

  192. Scott:

Uku, golf? It's 50 degrees here and we're rearing up for Winter. I'd die to play Turtle Bay right now :(

  193. M:

    Good evening hive!

  194. Shauna:

teejay: Woo-hoo! I was wondering how UH did. Thanks to you I'm up to speed!!

wade: Ooh, love this phrase! I must remember to use it in the future!

    whiskey tango foxtrot

Did you make that up or is that a rather common phrase for WTF?

Ukuhead: Actually we're thinking of doing 9 holes on Tuesday afternoon...can you take half day? :D Seems like there will BEE no Triad golf competition this year. :(

  195. M:

@teejay, you did really good staying out of that dark place again. :)

  196. David In Oregon:

YM-QB: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is making use of the phonetic alphabet. In the phonetic alphabet, each letter from A-Z is assigned a specific word to represent that letter.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet

  197. matt:

Law enforcement and military have different phonetic alphabets, so if a cop calls you "Adam Henry", it's not a case of mistaken identity.

  198. Ukuhead:

Tuesday no can... I'm helping make Thanksgiving baskets for the abused women shelter... REALLY!

  199. Shauna:

David In Oregon: Very cool link! Did you already know the word assigned to each letter??

matt: What is Adam Henry? A$$hole?????

Ukuhead: Is that your punishment for the crime? Just kidding!!!

  200. Shauna:

    #200!! :D

  201. sally:

@Ukuhead: That is awesome! Thank you for doing that!

  202. David In Oregon:

Quebec Bravo: Yes, I did know the words for the alphabet system that I posted. I am not too familiar with the law enforcement version as listed in the link below, so I always have to look that up:

    http://www.police-scanner.info/glossary/phonetic_alphabet.htm

  203. Ynaku:

Good Morning on this chilly day.

  204. Ynaku:

 sheesh, even my dog don't want to go out. :P

  205. Ocean Lover:

    Good Morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Howzit Ynaku! Gotta pick-up Da Teenager at Kualoa Park. He bee freezing his butt off! :-)

    OL............anuddah day awaits!

  206. matt:

    Shauna,
your innate grasp of the vulgarities in language is both impressive and admirable.

  207. HNL2LAS:

Is it really that cold at home right now? Wow.... I have the heater on in the house here! hehe..

  208. M:

    Good morning hive!

  209. sally:

Good Morning Ynaku, matt, HNL2LAS, M, and OL.
Good Morning Shauna and every other BEE waiting to wake up on this Sunday.

Is it cold here? Somebody forgot to tell Kapahulu. ha! At least it's not hot 'n muggy. Yes, grateful for that on this Thanksgiving week. I guess anklez is doing the best he can, bringing the cold here with him.

H2L: My daughter text msg'd me yesterday, she was having dinner at Bellagio. She knew it would make me crazy jealous. ha!

Ynaku: can't wait for chilly weather here. And it looks like I might finally meet you IRL next weekend?

I guess we wait for OL to get back home from Kualoa. brrrrr

  210. Shauna:

Good morning!! I woke up a bit too late to feel this alleged cold air you folks are talking about... ;) Nice day to play tennis! Woo-hoo!

matt: Why thank you, sir! :D

  211. sally:

    Good Morning Shauna!

Tennis, is that the game where you hit the ball over the fence and have to yell to the neighbors "Sorry!" ?

  212. anklebiters:

At Pearl City high Crafts Fair...so-so..waiting for the one next weekend at BA..

  213. anklebiters:

You peeps are all wimps. it's hot here...

  214. anklebiters:

Golf still on for Tuesday. :?: where is the ynaku get-together on Saturday. :?:

  215. Ocean Lover:

    Back from Kualoa!

I thought FO SHUA Queenie would still BEE sleeping.

    Queenie......you getting "old"! ;-)

OL.............did housework yesterday....what da hey will I do today?

  216. sally:

@OL: you can do MY housework today.

  217. Ocean Lover:

Thanks for the offer Sally......yet I'm sure I can find something around here to do. ;-)

If you haven't done so.......wake up early one weekend morning and drive down to/through the windward coast. Its so BEEyootiful and makes you realize why tourists spend so much to come here what we can enjoy for free.

OL............not even Thanksgiving and giving "thanks"

  218. sally:

I hear ya OL. I live in walking distance of Diamond Head Crater and every time I look at it I am truly grateful to live where people save a lifetime to come and see it. Same thing when I go to Blow Hole, Lanai Lookout, Waimanalo, North Shore, even good ole Waikiki or Ala Moana Beach.

  219. sally:

A couple of yrs ago 33 of us friends got together, rented a tour bus, rigged up a karaoke system, got bentos, and took a ride around the island. We played trivia games and just enjoyed each others laughter and the gorgeous scenery.

OL, we had our bentos at Kualoa Park, was just like an elementary school excursion. We sang and danced on the grass, made smiles with orange wedge slices. Thanks for bringing back a good memory.

  220. Ocean Lover:

@ Sally.............."memories" is what life's all about. "Good" memories. ;-)

That's something though.............33 of you folks chartering a tour bus! "Props" to you!

As we drove through Kahaluu I kept gazing at Kaneohe Bay. Grew up on it and pretty much know most of it "in and out".

    Seems like a lifetime ago........

OL............better stop uddahwise going get misty

  221. jack:

    Good Mornin' Hive 8)

BEEutiful day golfing at Luana Hills. :D

Shauna: Where are you gonna play tennis today?

  222. jack:

    Oh yeah, thankd Kan!

    Jack...should take up tennis

  223. David In Oregon:

Eh OL, no get misty, otherwise you goin get makapiapia.

  224. Scott:

You guys are killing me, talking about Oahu's beauty and Luana Hills :(
    That's what I miss :)

  225. Scott:

DiO, I did learn how to tie a necktie for my 2nd interview tomorrow!

  226. David In Oregon:

Scott: That's cool. I wish they (the site I posted the link for) didn't change their site. They used to have an animated version, which I thought was pretty cool.

  227. Scott:

DiO-I tried a couple of times, and it came back to me. I was rushed last Friday, I couldn't tie it, plus otherwise prepare for the interview.....
    Should bee fun.

  228. Shauna:

jack: Play in the heart of Kalihi! I'm a tough gal!

Just saw "2012" and loved it!!!!!! I am ODDly fascinated to these end-of-the-world movies!

  229. David In Oregon:

QB: "tough gal" ? You mean you're like a little pit bull? ;-)

  230. Shauna:

David In Oregon: I was thinking more along the lines of a bad-a$$ Angelina Jolie! She has a new movie coming out that looks good...

  231. Shauna:

anklebiters: Still waiting to hear from Ynaku and NKHEA on the definite plans for Saturday. Regarding golf, I asked if opso can make the tee time. I also messaged snow. I'll keep you posted!

sally: That sounded like a cool field trip! What fun friends you have!!

  232. KAN:

@Jack: you're welcome. I forgot you were sitting at the bar the night I was at FSB&G, so I forgot to give you your omiyage. :-(

Whew, busy weekend. Got back not that long ago from the Seattle Slack Key Festival - 1st annual, hopefully. Cyril Pahinui, Dennis Kamakahi, Sonny Lim, Jeff Peterson, Makana, Don Kaulia, Kunia Galdera. Outstanding. It was just terrific. Did some Thanksgiving prep too.

  233. KAN:

    Good luck Scott!

    That sounded like fun, Sally!

DiO: I'm still craving Voodoo! I may have to stop in at Top Pot soon. . .

  234. jack:

After todays round of golf I don't know if I am worthy to play with you guys on Tuesday. Ankles I hope you have fun!

  235. teejay:

    KAN: Did Makana play 'Poi?

  236. David In Oregon:

QB: Angelina Jolie? Does this mean you will now BEE Shauna Jolie? Or maybe, Angelina Goya? And does this mean instead of Brangelina, it'll now BEE called Brauna?

  237. Scott:

Shauna, you need to get some crazy tats and wear some dudes blood in a vile around your neck to be considered Brauna :)

    Or Shaungalina.....

  238. David In Oregon:

Scott: The vial around QB's neck wouldn't BEE blood but hand sanitizer.

  239. sally:

    Hello Everyone!
Shauna, 2012 was that good huh? Trying to pick a movie to take my friend to for his Bday. First I thought "The Fourth Kind" but I'm not hearing anything about it. Is it even still playing? "Precious" and "Blind Side" look awesome but I don't wanna do that ugly cry in public. Shame.

"Men Who Stare at Goats" is not getting good reviews from friends.

    So I think 2012 it's gonna BEE.

(Shaungalina? Brauna?) Fist Bump to D in O about the Hand Sanitizer in the vial.

  240. Ukuhead:

Ankles: I thought I saw you at the craft fair. My wife had a booth there and I went to help. My job is to stand there and be eye candy to attract all the hoochies...

  241. anklebiters:

    jack:

Join us anyways for golf..... :-)

    Shauna:

OK....mayBEE we can have dinner there if we finish during rush hour since I have to go allllllllll the way to Halawa Valley and traffic starts to back up before Likelike exit.

    Sally:

Go and see "Up" :-) A Pixar animated movie not just for kids....a really sober message in the beginning about putting things off and then it's too late.
    Or New Moon...

  242. sally:

@anklez: just watched the Up trailer... looks good! But New Moon? Sorry, I'm just not a Twilight Fan. Am I the only one? oy.

Thanks for the reccommendations. Final Decision will be up to my friend.

  243. Rodney Lee:

    sally:
Thank you Paula for directions out of "the strange land". Rod tried to give Man Directions, which totally confused me. Then you said "turn right, keep going and you'll hit Ward Ave". Gee, so easy, men don't get it. bhahaha!

    Women.

  244. KAN:

@ DiO: nope, Makana didn't play "poi" but he did play "Koi."

My job is to stand there and be eye candy to attract all the hoochies...

Uku-san, "attract" does not mean the same thing as "make them all run away screaming."

(j/k. couldn't resist - it was too easy.)

  245. Shauna:

    Rodney: Men!

anklebiters: Eating there or somewhere that side works for me!

jack: BEElieve me, I'll BEE the worst player. I should drive the cart around and watch you guys instead. ;)

Ukuhead: So was your wife upset there was no traffic at her booth?

Good night all! Short week this week!! :D

  246. Shauna:

sally: Oh yeah, I would definitely go take your friend to "2012" though the movie is almost three hours long!

Scott and David In Oregon: I don't need all those tattoos, etc. to BEE bad-a$$! ;) But yeah, I'd love to have that hand sanitizer always handy!! GREAT idea!!

Good night for sure this time! :D

  247. sally:

@ukuhead: what does your wife sell? Here's your chance at shameless promotion. Never mind the part about what you're doing there. ha! nah...

Will you (she) BEE at the Blaisdell Fair?

    @Rod:

    Men

  248. David In Oregon:

    @KAN: Hah? :shock:

  249. sally:

2012 is a 3hr movie? How...When ... do you take a bathroom break? I hate to miss anything and yet I gotta have my blue Icee.

  250. Ukuhead:

Sally: It varies what she sells, but it's usually kid themed stuff. No more craft fairs this year, but she was at the Blaisdell one this past saturday.

  251. HNL2LAS:

ohhhhh new idea for da hive eh??? Sanitizer in a vial you wear around your neck! Always handy for when you need it, and no need carry the dang thing! Bhahha.. reminds me of the bubbles we used to sell in this pretty bottle a loooong time ago when I worked retail!!

And yes, I did wear that around my neck! hee hee... bubbles make me happy!! ahhh simple pleasures....
