Happy 18 months!

November 9th, 2009 by Shauna

Today marks a year-and-a-half since Odds and Ends debuted. In that time, I shared more than 380 posts and you guys have contributed nearly 81,000 comments. Thank you so much for reading O&E and making it a part of your busy day. With your support, O&E has steadily maintained its ranking as the third-most read Advertiser blog.

We have gotten together dozens of times to welcome out-of-towners, wished those who moved to the Mainland well or just hung out for the heck of it. I've made many great friends and look forward to making many more.

The Hive — as the O&E readers are affectionately referred to as — has been a group of people I've come to count on to share good news, vent my anger, or need a shoulder to cry on. We're all like family — and I couldn't have asked for a better group of odds-and-ends people I met online.

So share your favorite O&E memory, what drew you to the blog, the most memorable story, etc. Are there ways I can make O&E better? Any suggestions on new features or looking for topics not covered? Want to hear more about stupid criminals or cool trends, whether it is in fashion, technology or food?

Here are some of my favorite photos of my O&E memories:

We wanted to hold our anniversary party at the original party location. Thanks to NKHEA for reserving us the room. anklebiters will also be in town. So save the date and let me know if you can make it!

  5. jaydee:

    This topic caught my attention:

    "Spit or Swallow?"

The rest, as they say, is history.

You always come up with these clever topics Shauna. You are an accomplished writer and have a great sense of humor, which is why I am addicted to your blog. I may not post a lot on here but I always find some time during my busy and hectic day to drop in and take a peek.

    Happy 18 months!

  6. teejay:

    Morning all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, eighteen months. Where does the time go? I sitll like that sunglasses poster.

  7. sally:

    Good Morning Hive!
    Happy Birthday O&E!!!

Success is due to the whole ODD package and you are the leader. ODD pics and stories and your interaction. You set the tone, then somehow it takes a life of its own.

BeeBeeDees and HoneyBees provide entertainment, moosic, and laughs to help get us through the day. We even have poetic talents!

We vent too, and support each other. We razz, announce victories, hardships, special days, and it's all in guuud fun!

    Congratulations Shauna!

  8. anklebiters:

How about bringing back the guest blogger posts :?: There are a bunch of new blogger on here we'd like to know more about :!:

  9. Ynaku:

WAT?????? OUTED FIRST THING IN DA MORNING????

Happy anniversary ........ sort of cause it's onlt 18 months. Has it been that long since I first met you folks? Seems like an eternity.

I try to make it a point to meet when on Oahu. Can't make it for the 20th but I'll be there the week after :P MAYBE (if Hop-along let's me loose) we can meet somewhere.

We have a lot of fun here. Looking forward to another 18 months 8)

  10. Scott:

    Good morning from California!
Congrats to Shauna for all you do for us Hive members.
I enjoyed all the friends I made before I moved to the mainland.

My only claim to fame is that I'm the only other Hive member
who has seen OL's WIERDO in real life!

I enjoyed meeting BananaFysh on Maui in January, the
few get together's I've attended, and beeeing on the winning
golf team at the first golf tournament at Hawaii Prince.

Most importantly sharing the birth of my boy with all
the nice people in the Hive. That was very special to me.

  11. che:

    Congrats on 18 months.

What attracted me to the site was the writing. It was funny and language (code) made me curious. I need to find out the meaning or story behind some of those words (like scones).

    Have a good one.

  12. M:

Good morning anklebiters, jaydee, teejay, sally, Ynaku, Scott and da hive!

I still can remember the first annual Triad Pah-tay like it was just yesterday.

My favorite get together was this past June when masako and I went to Disneyland and met kate, jaydee, Eli and uncle Jimmy. It was so awesome to meet them. We went shopping at Disneyland with kate and Eli met us for dinner and the next day met jaydee and uncle jimmy for lunch and kate join us too. We even exchange omiyagi with them.

  13. jaydee:

    M:

Yeah, it was great meeting up with you, Masako, kate and uncle jimmy that afternoon. I'm looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the Triad when I go back home for vacation....maybe early next year. Plans are still up in the air.

    Good Morning everyone!!

  14. Ynaku:

Good Morning M. My first time meeting these guys was at Kochis. Crazy bunch but you gotta love them. That's where I met Melissa from Urban Mixed Plate and Kristen for Inside Manoa Valley.

Who knew we had so much connections. opso and Ukuhead was from da BI. I not going say who was making doughnuts in the macnut fields above my house. (I'm thinking these dang kids making all kine noise but found out was one bored worker) :P

    Good time to reminisce.

  15. M:

The first annual Triad pah-tay masako wasn't sure if she wanted to go. She said what if they are crazy people there, why do you want to go to a party with a bunch of strangers? I told her lets just go and if it's to weird, we can leave. Besides we knew snow already and she was going to be there and we knew NKHEA and IKHEA too and they was going be there so it wasn't like we didn't know anyone. In fact, everyone had so much fun nobody wanted to leave. We stayed way beyond the closing time of the restaurant.
Going home masako said that she wss so glad that we went and met all the great people.
Now we try not to miss any blog get togethers since that night.

  16. matt:

morning all. reminisce? I just got here.

  17. Wade:

Congratulations, Shauna. You never know what kind of blog will resonate with people over an extended period and it looks like things are still going strong. 81,000 posts after 18 months is 4,500 posts / month or about 150 posts / day. I'm figuring 80% of the posts are put up by 20 or so of your regulars...which means your regulars are putting up about 5-6 posts EVERYDAY! Wow. Nice job, hive.

  18. KAN:

Congrats, QB, on doing such a great job of making everyone feel valued and included. I love the feedback and (fairly civil) conversation, which I think is unusual in the blogosphere.

I loved meeting lots of the Hive for the first time at FSB&G. It was very ODD walking to a table of friends whom I hadn't yet met. But I especially appreciate BananaFysh and Mrs. BF for taking a chance on meeting me when no one else in the Hive knew who I was. And they came back for more the next time they were in Seattle? Worship the Fruit???

Speaking of which, saw this picture via my friend's twitterstream this morning. Looks like at least BF is back in Seattle, living it up in characteristic fashion:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/sea-turtle/4083164153/in/pool-chs_capitolhillseattle

    Happy 18 months O&E!

  19. Eli:

    Good morning and happy Monday!!

    Congrats for 18 months. :D

It was great meeting M, Masako and kate for dinner at Disneyland. Hopefully I will get to meet the rest of the hive.

I was a lurker for a few months then I finally joined the hive. I'm glad I did because it has been fun reading the posts and comments. So much craziness happens here and so many interesting people.

Shauna keep up the great work!! Just keep posting all kinds of ODD stories you find. Reading the posts and comments keeps me busy at work. :P Honestly it does make the day go by faster being here. :D

  20. Shauna:

Good achy morning.... played some tennis yesterday for the first time in a while and I'm paying for it now! Wish I could BEE in bed all day!

  21. Jack:

    Mornin’ Hive 8)

Congratulations on 18months of ruling over the Hive. :D

Shauna: I didn’t know you could get hurt playing Wii tennis

  22. Ocean Lover:

Good Morning and Happy 1.5 year anniversary!!!!!!!!!!!

    I still can't figure how O & E......BEE #3????????

    OL...................... "O & E - its all about BEEa's and QUEEA's"

  23. snow:

    good morning HIVE!

happy 18 months to qb and the HIVE! i'm glad to see that the HIVE is still BUZZing strong! ;) qb, thanks to all your hard work, we BEEs have a place to congregate, to share our days, to monku... but, mostly, share a laugh and each others company.

i don't remember when i first posted but it took me a while to join in! once i did, i never looked back! i'm glad to have met most of the HIVE members and i can't wait to meet the rest! newBEEs and lurkahs, don't be shy... this is the craziest but nicest group of BEEs you'll ever meet! after every HIVE outing, i am usually tired to flaughing so much! you won't regret it!

my favorite HIVE memory? hmmm... that's tough... not sure if i can narrow it down to one! i'll think about this one for a bit... ;)

  24. snow:

how did that happen? what the heck is "tired to flaughing so much?" aigoo! should have said "tired from laughing so much!"

  25. snow:

scott - re: golfing with deer - while golfing in waikoloa last year, we encountered a big herd of deer (for a golf course, anyway!)! mayBEE over 50 of then ran from the neighboring hole to ours, then proceeded to graze in the fairway! we had to get some of them off the tee box, too! i didn't see any whales or dolphins, though... ;)

  26. M:

In 2008 we were on Miyajima Island in Japan and there's deer everywhere and they are not afraid of humans, you can pet them. One of the deer ripped the bottom of the shopping bag I was carrying trying to get at the food in the bag.

This year while visitiing the Todaiji Temple in Nara, Japan there's friendly deers there. You can buy food to feed them. Masako brought some food and a whole mob of deer came and was so aggressive, she screamed and just dropped the food and ran. hahaha

  27. BananaFysh:

    Good Morning Hive!

Congrats on hitting the 18 month mark! :)

Geez, 18 months -- sometimes it feels like such a short time ago, and other times, it feels like just yesterday! So ODD!

  28. anklebiters:

My MIL's house was right across the street from the 5th hole. The first few time we'd visit I'd notice small mounds in the fairway in the morning. I thought they were gopher holes but MIL said they were from javelinas :!: They'd come out at nights and dig for roots. Lots of jack rabbits thou....never saw a snake thou. But you have to watch out for the cholla cactus. Lot's of drive-by pokes from them as you're looking for your ball off the fairway.

  29. EMM386:

18 months? I've been reading this page for a year and a half? How time flies.

  30. bamboohouse808:

    Good Morning All!!

Congrats on 18 months of ODD BEEhavior!!

I posted on BL's blog first since I thought it was better.

Then came my greatest O&E memory..... the first words to me from Shauna Goya -

bamboohouse808: Hungry for scones now I bet... You disloyal, superficial, queen-cheating reader! Hope you choke on those oversized scones I know you're dreaming of!

    Ah the memories...........

  31. snow:

bamboohouse808 - ha ha ha... how ODD! that is one of my favorite memories, too! (MAJOR FIST BUMP to qb! w00t! )

  32. snow:

HNL2LAS - hope you had a great flight yesterday! we need move updates! ;)

  33. KAN:

@ M, #26: I think I've posted about this before, but one of my dad's friends gotten bitten in the butt by a deer at Todaiji in Nara! I guess the friend had deer food (which they sell at Todaiji) in his back coat pocket and the deer was impatient.

  34. Shauna:

bamboohouse808: I cannot BEElieve you still remember that line and keep repeating it. Do you have it on a post-it on your computer or something?? And that doesn't even sound like me...I'm sure the line is out of context somehow!

snow: My favorite memory of you is snowfall! Just kidding! And totally love "tired to flaughing so much"!!! ;)

anklebiters: No, I thought Jon and Kate is now minus one!
    TURD :!: FORE :!: Plead the FIFTH :!: S*X :!: SVEN :!: Jon & Kate plus 8 :!:
I get all my favorite music today, right? ;) And yes, some more guest blogs sound good!

EMM386: Thanks for reading from the BEEginning!! :D Are we going to see you at the party later this month?

  35. Shauna:

Eli and M: I still think it is cool that the Mainlanders met up! That really shows a love for the blog and the friendship that you just know is there!!

Jack: Ruling? Haha!! ;) I rule in Wii tennis! On the court, not as much!

KAN: Ooh, love that photo!!! Funny how seeing banana products makes you think of our own ODD character! ;)

Ynaku: You really are the one to credit for all these IRL meet-ups. My intention was to always have everyone stay anonymous. Never dreamed this was the direction the blogs would take. And I couldn't have asked for a better Triad! :)

  36. visitor:

    Good morning! (Almost afternoon)

Shauna - Congrats on the 18th month milestone. It's nice to drop in on O&E during the day to get relief from the daily grind. Thanks to all of you regulars who make up the nice diversion from the"reality" of the work day.

  37. Shauna:

Wade: I may not BEE the best with mat but I think your numbers are a bit off. I definitely don't do a 150 posts a day!

matt: And hopefully you are here to stay!! I really love brain-teasing statements! ;)

jaydee: Yes, please keep me posted on your vacation plans!! And I'm glad the "Spit or Swallow" post drew you in for good! I see what topics catches your eye! LOL!

rayboyjr: You have to get a shirt! You can sleep in it! I promise that doesn't mean I'll haunt you in your sleep!

  38. Shauna:

che: Glad you got drawn in by the secret language! Haha!! bamboohouse808 can tell you all about scones as that is his speciality! ;)

Scott: I am touched that you chose The Hive to share your journey about the birth of your son! When he is older, he can look back and see all those comments made about him!!

sally: We do have all our bases covered on here! And thanks to you also for always providing such entertaining tidbits in your life! Still waiting for a rhyme-off BEEtween you and Ocean Lover! ;)

BananaFysh: It does just seem like yesterday... and it was awesome that you were able to come to Oahu as much as you did to meet everyone!

teejay: That is still your favorite memory? Haha! ;)

    David In Oregon: Thanks! :D

  39. Shauna:

visitor: Yeah, I agree that all the regulars do provide an interesting diversion to the rather mundane work day. ;)

Ocean Lover: At least number three is a combination of one and two! Gotta look on the bright side! :D

  40. David In Oregon:

QB: I think you need to get a 2nd version of the shirt, as the version you show is missing quite a few things.

It shows the Queen, but she isn't wearing her crown. WWD! ;-)

I also don't see any BEEs wearing Dove shorts, red muumuu, or BBDs.

None of the BEEs is doing jazz hands or spirit fingers.

    Where's the website address?

  41. matt:

    DiO,
    and no head tilt.

  42. David In Oregon:

matt: I don't know about the head tilt. Without an image of another person in the pic, folks might think the QB was just ODD

  43. King Katonk:

    Congrats QB and The Hive…

I’m grateful that you guys allow a “drone” like me visit once in awhile. All I can say is that O&E is a crazy place to BEE. This unique community exemplifies what the “Aloha Spirit” is all about.

(Just don’t tell Braddah Lance that I wuz hea.)

  44. M:

@Shauna, masako and I will be at the second annual triad pah-tay for sure! Who want to miss that!

  45. World Wide Ed:

I get depressed every time I come in here and see hundreds of comments. Ahahaha, nah! Congrats Shauns! 18 months of goodness fo sho!

  46. David In Oregon:

Ed, that's why you gotta plug your blog on here.

  47. M:

Gotta have another pah-tay too for Ynaku when he comes the following week. :)

  48. Ynaku:

Hey ED, I left ONE comment on your blog  Now to get another hundred or so uddah people.

  49. Ocean Lover:

"Wade: I may not BEE the best with mat but I think your numbers are a bit off. "

Hey Queenie............you not the best with SPELLING either. ;-)

OL.........just keeping da COPY EDITOR on her toes.

  50. Ynaku:

    Hey Wade,

Shauna's right, she no get that many posts. BUT try check out her guest bloggers. 1000 posts baby.

  51. Ocean Lover:

"So share your favorite O&E memory, what drew you to the blog, the most memorable story, etc."

I also used to post on BL's blog.....then Queenie used her "wiles" and LURED ME HERE........I feel so USED.

"Are there ways I can make O&E better? Any suggestions on new features or looking for topics not covered?"

    FREE FOOD always works. ;-)

" Want to hear more about stupid criminals or cool trends, whether it is in fashion, technology or food?"

I'd like to hear more about the SECRET BUSH.....SCONES......and CHOCOLATE COVERED NUTS...........in no particular order.

    OL..............wishing O & E only the best! :-)

  52. teejay:

Shauna: O & E is your baby but after twentyfour months you have to start using years. Contrats to you and wish you more success. (I still think you're number two)

  53. Rodney Lee:

    David In Oregon:
QB: I think you need to get a 2nd version of the shirt, as the version you show is missing quite a few things.

I also don't see any BEEs wearing Dove shorts, red muumuu, or BBDs.

DIO - check out the bee on the left hand side.

  54. Shauna:

David In Oregon: Yeah, who would've thought the shirt would BEE so outdated by now?? ;)

matt: Is head tilt to the right or left better?

King Katonk: You need to visit more often! And I promise your secret is safe with me!!

World Wide Ed: Appearances can BEE deceiving. ;)

M: Great, glad you guys will BEE there!

  55. David In Oregon:

OL: How did she lure you here? Did she promise that you were going to be the leader of the parade?

  56. Rodney Lee:

Wow, in that T-shirt picture, it almost looks like you have da kine "Sarah Palin" hairstyle.

  57. Shauna:

Ynaku: Dang, you're right! The guest bloggers got way more love! ;) But I am looking for some willing folks come this December again!! Cough cough.....

Ocean Lover: Oh, how shame that I spelled math wrong!!! And men should never feel used, just useful!!

teejay: If I haven't BEEn outcasted by then, I will definitely BEE using years and saying goodbye to months! And I'm glad to know I'm No.2 in your eyes. :D

Rodney: What good eyes you have! ;)

  58. David In Oregon:

eh Rodney, you got good eyes. I didn't see dat little buggah wearin BBDs.

  59. Shauna:

David In Oregon: Hahaha! That's a good one!

OL: How did she lure you here? Did she promise that you were going to be the leader of the parade?

Rodney: Hey, I had that shirt BEEfore people even heard of that woman!

  60. David In Oregon:

QB: adding to the ideas for the 2nd shirt, I leave it up to you if you want to wear sunglasses or not, and what size sunglasses to wear. ;-)

  61. Ocean Lover:

@ DiO - "OL: How did she lure you here? Did she promise that you were going to be the leader of the parade?"

Yes......IN ADDITION, she promised me unlimited SCONES........protection from WEIRDO.......a 40 hour work week with free medical...........all the ICE CREAM that I can eat and "get away with".......and a "poke" that I'd enjoy (she didn't say it was to donate blood).

So far she has FAILED.............miserably. :-(

OL..............another entry for "Promises not Kept" ;-)

  62. Rodney Lee:

    DIO - #60 ** fist bump **

As for the BEE-WEARING BEE BEE DEE on the shirt - that was part of her marketing campaign.

  63. David In Oregon:

Rodney: Part of her marketing campaign? BBDs for all? BBDs for the masses? A BBD in every household?

  64. David In Oregon:

OL: You have to put that on QB's performance review under, "Are there ways I can make O&E better" ;-)

  65. rayboyjr:

... whoa, a cameo appearance by World Wide Ed ...

... what Ed??? ... you showing some Blog Envy??? ... nooooo ... take it like man!!! ... just BEE quiet and keep it inside ... and silently acknowledge that she is Queen!!! ...

... but no worry, Ed ... even if there's just me and you posting over there ... I got your back ... in fact, I can post a hundred comments for you over there if you want ... ... is that too obvious that we're desperate??? ...

    Θ( O O )Θ

  66. Creative:

So your having something on the 20th? What time? I might be able to make it. Let me know.

    -Creative

  67. matt:

    Shauna,
left right, no matter. just gotta bee there.

WWE: those are not the droids you're looking for (always wanted to say that).

  68. Rodney Lee:

World Wide Ed - guest blogger on Hawaii Hacks blog too!

Watch out Queenie, he making his move...

j/k Ed. You going to be at the Triad party?

  69. David In Oregon:

Rodney: I think the braddah (Ed) making the wrong moves. He say he is depressed about the number of posts here, but he adds his own post. He also goes and makes a appearance as a guest blogger on Hawai`i Hacks. To borrow a line from a certain other someone, WWD! ;-) What he should be doing is having guest bloggers post on his blog, not post on their blogs.

  70. M:

@Ed, you know that new cutting edge technology that I mentioned on your blog last week? If you want to know more come to the Triad pah-tay. I think this will BEE BIG in the next few years.

  71. Shauna:

Creative: We're starting at 6 p.m. but you can pop in at anytime after that. If you can make it that would BEE so awesome! I'm always excited to meet some new folks!!

rayboyjr: Desperate times call for desperate measures! ;)

Ocean Lover: Are you calling me a failure?!?!?!

  72. bamboohouse808:

I cannot BEElieve you still remember that line and keep repeating it.

Shauna - I still remember it beecause I'm still so traumatized by it!! You know how sweet and sensitive I bee!!

  73. Rodney Lee:

Cat (The Daily Dish) confirmed that she'll be at the party.

Melissa Chang (Urban Mix Plate) and Diane Ako (Small Talk) regret that they can't make it.

  74. BananaFysh:

Hm? Did I hear "guest bloggers" again? ;)

UNLIMITED SCONES........................dey BEE very "limited". ;-)

PROTECTION FROM WEIRDO................I just had an "encounter" with him last week!

40 HOUR WORK WEEK WITH FREE MEDICAL................does "Furlough Fridays" mean anything to you?

ALL THE ICE CREAM THAT I CAN EAT AND "GET AWAY WITH"..................saw how "skinny" I've gotten? SKINNY = NO ICE CREAM :-(

A "POKE" THAT I'D ENJOY......................I do enjoy possibly saving 3 lives but don't like NEEDLES involved in any "POKE".

Looks to me like "FAIL" ;-) ;-)

    OL.........FINALLY figured out Rayboy's sign-off......its a TELE TUBBY!

  80. rayboyjr:

    good afternoon hivers! :D

ho......18 months awready! my how time "buzzes by".

Queenie - it was your provocative titles and banter that got me here. i know we all had our share of "cold showers" and "fainting". haha!
and all the ODD characters that were posting here from da BEEginning and all da newBEEs.......made this a really speshull place. :P

hah! and i must say....."falling snow" is one of da most memorable for me too.

@Ocean Lover ... ha ha ... good one ... just make sure that it's da Green Teletubby - Dipsy with the dipstick on his head ... not da Purple one cause it's rumored he's da gay Teletubby ... not that there's anything wrong with that ... just not me ...

@opso ... hope you had a good one on Saturday ... at Da ROCK??? ... went there looking high and low, but couldn't find you ... kinda distracted by all the au natural Honey Bees in there ... I just never knew it was that kind of place ... ;) ...

  87. Ocean Lover:

@ Rayboy..............I used to watch Teletubbies when "Da Teenager" was "Da Baby". At the very BEEginning there's this real baby and its kinda SPOOKY that BEEginning. I think there's a sun involved in the opening sequence.

And I think I know whatchu mean bout the purple one.......the one with the PURSE......not that there's anything wrong with that. I think Banana has the same purse.

OL.....................watched Gilligan's Island when he was dat age and look wha happened

  88. anklebiters:

You can thank my soon-to-be London bound friend for the previous moooosic choices :!: Hard to believe that she lurves European "orchestral" metal

Here's my choice for today....the song says it all for the last 18 months on O&E, MLC and WWD...

  89. BananaFysh:

One of the "memorable moments" for me was the first appearance of "Da teet'" at the first Triad get together.

I forgot to put them in when I walked in, so I didn't freak out as many people as I could have. I got to freak out half of the room though. ;)

I remember seeing the expression on M, Masako, NKHEA, IKHEA, snow, snowMan and opso's faces -- they were trying SO HARD not to look freaked out.  I don't think I've ever met people who wanted to make good EYE CONTACT like they did in right then!

Thanks for BEEing good sports! ;)

  90. The Dork Knight:

18 months already? Congrats to QB and the hive!

Can't make it to the Triad party but I'm glad I got to meet some of the BEEs over the summer.

  91. visitor:

@OL - one of the highlights of Shauna's O&E are your adventures in the bathroom at your work place. I can't imagine so much happens in your bathroom!

  92. NKHEA:

    :P :P :P :P PAH-TAY TIME!!!!!!!!! :P :P :P :P

NKHEA.....and IKHEA will BEE dea ;)

  93. NKHEA:

Oh sorry  Hi everybody :)

Wow, hard to beleive it's been over a year already ;) how time flys when you BEE havin so much fun :D

    NKHEA.....like OL said BEEa's and QUEEa's

  94. Ocean Lover:

Banana! How can I forget????? The first Triad party.....when I went across the room to introduce myself.....I saw YOUR TEET.....and dey was HAGAMOOGY BEEg TIME! I distinctly remember telling you "Brah......wassamatta wit your teet?" and then I instantly thought "OL you idiot.......you don't even KNOW THIS GUY and if that's his real teet......he may POUND YOU someting silly" but I just couldn't help myself. THANK GOD his teet is "okay"....not as nice as mine.....but no can help. ;-)

And then I saw SNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW yet wasn't really sure as Mr. Coors kept telling me "No OL.........dat CAN'T BEE her". I know SNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW from BEEfore this blog. Talk about small world!

@ Visitor - the WEIRDO stories are all true. It is.........my curse. :-(

    OL.................I'm getting misty reminiscing

  95. che:

I'll try and stop by early on Friday (20th). I know my attendance has been bad lately.

  96. Shauna:

che: Yes, your attendance has BEEn bad!! You don't like me anymore? ;)

NKHEA: Two more weeks to party time!! Can you contain your excitement? ;)

M: We can do another party for Ynaku!!

  97. Shauna:

The DSork Knight: And you are no longer a mystery!!!

BananaFysh: I held my composure well when I saw your teet for the first time!!!

visitor: I also enjoy hearing about Ocean Lover's bathroom experiences! I also am fascinated with those gymnastic bars he always mentions...

  98. BananaFysh:

@OL -- I think I was sitting next to opso when you walked into the room. He asked who you were, and I recognized you from your pic from "The Secret Place" (not to BEE confused with The Secret Bush  ).

I told opso, "That's OL! Watch this, I'm GONNA GO GET HIM!!" I popped in the teet', and watched your expression go from this: :) to this

That was one of the funniest memories I have of that night! I think OL said "Eh, you gotta do something about your teeth!!"
    So I replied: "Eh, whatchoomean?!?!?"
But I couldn't contain the laughter, and took out the teet' BEEfore I spit them out while I busted out laughing! ;)

  99. Shauna:

opso: Have those cold showers BEEn fewer and farther BEEtween? ;)

  100. Shauna:

anklebiters: Thanks for all music!!! Gotta listen to some of them a bit later! :D

  101. BananaFysh:

@Shauna -- You were pretty composed when you saw my teet' for the first time too. You kinda had the same look as everyone else though -- that look of panic while trying not to show any panic. ;)

    The "OhMyGodIHopeThatsNotHisRealTeethIThinkImGonnaFreakOutButDontLetHimSeeOhMyGod!!!!" look.

  102. NKHEA:

Shauna; I BEE practicing from tonight so I BEE in top shape  as for opso still in the cold showers, after his BD party at the ROCK still think he BEE in da shower 8O

OL............cannot tink of what's up this weekend let alone 2 weeks from now

  104. Ocean Lover:

@ Banana....yeah, that comment JUST CAME OUTTA ME. Usually I'd BEE more reserved. If that was your REAL TEET.....may as well PULL UM ALL OUT and BEE all "gummy". Way better den dose MAJOR HAGAMOOGEY'S. ;-)

THANK GOD they weren't real though............ ;-)

    OL................brushes teet 3 x/day

  105. NKHEA:

    NKHEA.....knows what OL talkin bout

  106. Ynaku:

OK, I carry the honorable title of "Queea" too.

I remember one lunch we had at Art's HIdeaway. First time meeting OL. I told him look for the guy in the Red Muu muu strolling down Bishop St.

Bwahahaha. NO I wore nice business clothes. Crazy! Wat you tink me? One tita?????

We had a nice Lunch but I think Shauna was giving Art some "sugah" cause he was giving her all kind stuff for free. Da kine extra bread and stuff for her soup. She no could finish her sandwich.

Us guys was stuck eating our Meat Loaf, wraps, salads and what not, but I tink Art was all "goo goo" eyes over Queenie.

    Das one of my memories.

Oh and I went catch cold after that. Must be all that germophobe virus jumping off somebody :(

But it was fun. I got to sit next to HNL@LASt and yes, she WAS LAST. bahahaha *sniff* I miss her

  107. turk fontaine:

watched your video headlines tonite. very nice. but next time would you wear a schoolgirl uniform and wink at me before you shuffle the papers. Thanks, keep up the good work and my hopes. someday i'll be able to say "i knew her when".

  108. matt:

    if I may
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiOcVWQY2bc
seemed appropriate for the topic at hand

  109. Tahoe-gal:

Shauna, you're terrific. I really don't know what I like best in your blog topics ~ it's random because you have such variety. Sometimes it's the fun or weird news, local happenings, bantering with the guys, etc. It's a good mix and I have nothing to suggest other than to keep doing what you're doing because it's entertaining...even for us ol' futs (fut-ettes?) I don't know what got me hooked on reading blogs several months ago...just browsing. I started with one 'humor' columnist's blog but it sorta got lame, so now I follow a handful of you young-uns. Some of the posters crack me up...and I lurvve to laugh. (Yesh, I have adopted some of WWE's lingo in my email-speesh.)

I don't read all the blogs daily cuz' I stay busy but I lurk and scan for my favorite posters. Posting is sort of a rush for me cuz' it's anonymous and almost like writing in a diary. Born/raised in Hawaii; been on the mainland almost 9 yrs. (more space; variety in travel; money goes farther; need the tax break, etc.); most of the family still in HI so we visit; hapa but can pass so I do; reading the local blogs has reconnected me to my roots which is a good thing; and it's amazing how the pigin has easily come back, even if it's only in my mind.
Nuff aw-ready. I goin' lurk and den' moi-moi...but bocha first.

  110. midori-mm:

HAPPY 18 MONTHS REGARDS!!! I enjoy your blogs and the Bees are very funny posters.

Happy Belated Birthday, Opso. Hope you had a good time on your special day.

  111. sally:

    Good Evening Hive!

Shauna, just think, all these ODD friendships made BEEcause of you. Oh, and the rhyme off should BEE OL vs rayboyjr... not me. RBjr has quickly BEEcome very proficient in his poetic genius.

Just that OL got more subject matter. ha!

And, to everyone not yet been to a Triad Party, no scade 'um. This is the craziest, funnest bunch of strangers you ever gonna party with. Isn't that just ODD? hahaha! And now worry about pictures... they always ask if it's ok with you. If not, they either disguise it or don't post it.

    Simple.

  112. opso:

good evening! finally got out of the cold showah.

    Queenie -

BF - ho brah! dem teet was classic! i was tinking....."dang! dis BF guy's teet is all whack!" "no stare! no stare!" haha!
i almost lost it like Austin Powers and point at you and yell....."hagemoge teet! hagemoge teet! BF has hagemoge teet!"

    midori-mm - thanks! i did! i reeeelly did!

  113. opso:

that first Triad Pahtay WAS kinda an ODD event to attend at first. not knowing what kine peeps going show up IRL. but at least i met Queenie, Largo and Aunty Paula BEEfore that....and found that they were really cool to hang with. so wasn't as uncomfortable for me.

and afta having some BEEas with......or should i say trying to keep up with NKHEA & IKHEA......all was guud afta dat! :D

NKHEA - arriving early at this kine pahtay had it's advantages yeah? neva need deal with all da eyes staring at you  when you arrive......especially like when HNL2LASt FINALLY made her appearance. haha!

i'm sure glad i attended......and made me some great new friends. :D

  114. Shauna:

opso: So how the showah? Got goose bumps for staying in so long? ;) And thanks for saying I'm cool, not ODD, to hang out with! ;)

sally: Good idea on the rhyme-off!! I am happy to help foster these ODD friendships! :D

midori-mm: Thanks! And give yourself credit, too! You're just as funny as the others! In a good way, of course!

  115. Shauna:

turk fontaine: Ooh, school girl uniform and a wink. Wonder if I can pull that off! ;)

Tahoe-gal: Yeah the variety probably helps as doing only the same thing every time might get boring. It is interesting to see which posts bring out certain people who don't post regularly. I'm grateful you lurked on mine. Hope to see you on here more often! :D

Ynaku: I liked Art!! Such a nice man!! :D

    NKHEA: Party....party...party!!!

  119. Ukuhead:

Sooo busy today so i neva even read, but happy 18 months...

  120. David In Oregon:

Wow, I'm glad I wasn't at the first party. I think if I saw BF wit his teeths, I would have had to politely excuse myself so I could go to a corner of the room to be by myself and cry..........................with laughter.

  121. Ocean Lover:

Happy 18 months and 1 day Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!

Just for dat I'm gonna make some coffee. ;-)

    OL.........celebrating the day

  122. teejay:

    Morning all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sure glad tomorrow is a holiday.

  123. anklebiters:

    teejay:

FIVE day weekend for me :!: :-)

  124. Ynaku:

    Good Morning.

Ho Wow, first ting in da morning I get "Broke Brain" Dat koala.... NKHEA, go squeeze his neck again :P

OK, off to classes again. After our health fair. It's that time of the year to select our providers.

    Flu shots anyone?????

  125. matt:

Ynaks, looks like time to find high ground for you. stay dry today.

  126. Ynaku:

Hey matt, Thanks. I woke up this morning and it was foggy. Humid type fog. yucky. Good thing I'm in class all day. But going home is another story. So far no big rain. Small kind drizzle.

  127. KAN:

Guuuud morning Hive! @teejay & ankles: tomorrow's not a holiday for me, but I'm glad to still have a job, so I'm not going to monku (too much). ;-)

  128. Ynaku:

Hey KAN, I keep you company. I work too.

  129. matt:

KAN, I think the right to be habuteru is covered in the bill of rights somewhere. monku all you want.

  130. M:

Good morning OL, teejay, anklebiters, Ynaku, matt, KAN and da hive! :)

  131. teejay:

ankles: Sweet!!!!!!! Have a good and safe one.

  132. Shauna:

Good morning!!! Flash flood watch for tonight... hope everyone stays warm and dry!

  133. David In Oregon:

    Good morning QB and Hive!!

  134. KAN:

    @Ynaku: :-D

@matt: be careful what you give me the right to do. I'm REALLY good at monku-ing ;-) The only thing that makes working tomorrow a little harder is that Sweetie has the day off (but he's been working overtime lately, so he deserves it).

Nahnah, my office is good and my bosses are good. I'm gonna treat myself to a nice lunch tomorrow.

  135. matt:

    KAN,
don't think of it as a missed holiday...think of it as a traffic light workday.

  136. sally:

    Good Morning Hive!

    matt: cup half full... awesome!

  137. snow:

    good morning HIVE!

flash flood watch? bah! i hope it doesn't rain at the band festival tonight! :(

DiO - if you had seen bananafysh's teet at the first triad party, you might have gone to the corner to cry... fo' real! they are much more "impressive" in person! ;)

opso & qb - uhhh, not saying anything about long, cold showers...

  138. snow:

opso & qb - i forgot... snowfall? well, i guess i'm an "added-value" honeyBEE and musketeer!! hee hee...

*free entertainment provided (no, not THAT kind!) *

  139. Wade:

Shauna: maybe you're better than you think:

    81,000 posts / 18 mos = 4,500 posts/mos
    4,500 posts/mos / 30.4 days/mos = 148 posts/day

    It's all in da numbas.

  140. sally:

@snow: I used to go to those Rainbow Invitationals ... very cool and lots of pride for all the schools.

After my friend's son graduated from Kaiser, he now marches for UH. Then my other friends' sons graduated from PC and Moanalua and I wasn't willing anymore to sit in the rain every year LOL.

Have fun, this copetition is wonderful! (and stay dry!)

  141. matt:

    wade,
looks better if you figure that there's, maybe, 18 posts per month (usually five a week but sometimes four).

  142. Kage:

    Good Morning All!

    Missed out yesterday.

So, hmm, my bestest memory of the blog.... gotta BEE when I first met the group IRL. Was at Ryan's. I was the last one to get there and we left after about an hour. I was not sure if I wanted to BEE seen or not, but thought I would take the chance. Great choice. Fun, loving, not afraid to say what's on their mind group of BEEple. Turns out I used to work with M's daughter.. small world.

What drew me to the blog... I was lurking for the longest time and commenting on MLC. Then I notices the same names on other blogs, so I started reading. O&E seemed "edgier". I was kinda scared to post. I neva like get beat up by the hive. Eventually I figured I could hold my own and posted. BEEn doing it ever since.

    Great job Queenie!

  143. Kage:

OH yeah, I guess another good memory is that I learned what JAZZ HANDS are.

Just waiting for the next parade that OL organizes.... hehe.

  144. Shauna:

Wade: I'm still confused but your math sounds buzzworthy to me!

Kage: OOH!! O&E has edge!! Me like!! Thanks!! :)

  145. Bre:

Ynaku suggested I read your blog. He said the comments were always fun. He was right!

  146. Shauna:

Bre: I'm so glad you did! Now hopefully we'll hear lots more from you on your take on these ODD stories! :)

Ynaku: Thanks for telling Bre about O&E!

  147. visitor:

Good morning. Time for diversion from the mundane. O&E is good therapy.

It was interesting when sometime ago Snow mentioned Liberty House...brought back old memories of "floating" at Ala Moana years ago. Kinda like MLC with with a different twist.

  148. Shauna:

visitor: Need another diversion? Check out the new post... ;)
