Calling out all the players...

July 8th, 2009 by Shauna

Games can be addicting, whether online or the traditional way — board games, cards or charade types.

As many of you probably know from previous comments, a bunch of us are hooked on Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook. Not only is the game addicting, a leaderboard lets you see the current scores of all your friends. It’s fun to try and beat your friends even though scores are reset every week.

I love games!! Yet it’s hard to say what makes me want to try the game. There has to be something about it that just pulls you in and makes you wanna say “Let me try” as soon as you see it.

How about you? Like the challenge some games present? There’s a new one coming out that’s all the rage and is said to be "incredibly complicated"...

Rubik's Cube inventor creates new puzzle
UPI

LONDON — The inventor of the Rubik's Cube is about to confound the world with a new puzzle called The 360, an executive at Rubik brand said in England.

"It doesn't need batteries and looks as though it should be quite easy," said David Hedley, the brand's vice president. "But it is incredibly complicated. There are some really cunning tricks to it."

The 360, which goes on sale next week, was invented by Erno Rubik, 64, the reclusive Hungarian professor who has sold an estimated 350 million Rubik Cubes since 1980, The Daily Telegraph reported Monday.

With Rubik's new game, players must get six colored balls from an inner sphere into matching slots on an outer sphere by moving them through a middle sphere with just two holes.

The London toy store Hamleys already has had thousands of inquiries about The 360, Nigel Wheatley, the store's head of sales, said.

"I expect thousands to be sold in days," Wheatley told the newspaper.

And here's another game story, this one with an exorbitant price!

Paying more than $17,000 for less than 7 minutes of play
By Mike Smith
Yahoo, plugged in

Think $60 video games are too expensive? You won't hear any argument from us, but you might from JJ Hendricks, a collector who just paid a clinically insane $17,500 for an obscure NES game from 1990.

The game in question is an ultra-rare, gold-colored version of Nintendo World Championships, a cartridge specially produced for use in a Nintendo-sponsored gaming contest. According to Wikipedia only 26 were created, and Hendricks calls it the "Holy Grail" of video game collectors.

17kgame_300

The game itself has a time limit of just 6 minutes and 21 seconds and consists of three short segments from other NES games: Super Mario Bros., Tetris, and Rad Racer. Players are scored according to their performance in each game, and their scores are totaled once the time limit expires. Doesn't sound too riveting to us, but then somehow we doubt Hendricks is in it for the gameplay.

And while $17,500 might seem a bit much for a collection of ones and zeroes, Hendricks actually got a bargain: the game was originally listed on eBay for a cool $25,000.

Are you good at solving the Rubik's cube? When was the last time you played with one?

What kind of games do you enjoy? Brain teasers? Interactive ones? Action/fighting games?

What platforms do you prefer or have at home? PlayStation? Wii?

One of my favorite online games is Zuma, in which you shoot colored balls to clear a deadly chain. There are more than a dozen levels and a variety of different mazes to work through. I thought it was only available on PCs but in doing some background research for this post, I learned it is now offered for Macs! Other top games for me are: Dr. Mario on Nintendo, Scattergories (board game), Trumps (cards) and Wheel of Fortune (game show).

  2. honda si boy:

    argh! 2nd!

  3. BananaFysh:

    :D

  4. Shauna:

Haha, someone else just missed it!!! LOL!!!

  5. honda si boy:

hmmm, maybe the lady was thinking of "her moon"...although hmmmm, elephant, her moon....hmmmmm.

  6. snow:

sixth??? geez, spent too much time typing on the old post! grr...

  7. snow:

    hi banana, qb, and hsib!

  8. Ukuhead:

Dang it!!! I been refreshing for the last couple minutes... New post finally comes up and cannot even crack top 5!!! CONSPIRACY!!!! BWAHAHAHA

  9. BananaFysh:

That new puzzle from Rubik looks interesting.

I was in intermediate school when the original came out. I had to buy the book to learn how to solve it, but after I did, I memorized the patterns to solve it in under 3 minutes. ;)

I played with one a couple of months ago, and I can solve most of it, but I forget the patterns for solving the "bottom layer."

    MLC! haha! ;)

  10. honda si boy:

whoa, old school nintendo games! i still have my (working) nintendo system. although it works, i still have to slide in that extra cartridge over the main one to get it to play. my roommate has the ps3 and the wii.

as for games, i like strategy RPG games...like nobunaga's ambition, x-com (for the old school PC), sim city...stuff like that. i also like(d) doom 2 and halo. for non-computer games, i like brain teasers. it makes me feel as if i'm keeping my brain exercised properly! :P

  11. BananaFysh:

    Hello all!

    I guess I got lucky I dropped in when I did. ;)

  12. honda si boy:

BF: isn't one strategy for the rubix cube to look at the middle square on each side as that will never change? i forget. and as a fellow movie/video guy, i'm assuming you saw "the pursuit of happyness?"

  13. snow:

as for games, i've been hooked on bejeweled (in the past, i don't know if i could resist bejeweled blitz!), zuma, luxor, tetris (gameboy), and, old school, galaxians and space invaders! i don't like puzzles like rubrics cubes, though. oh, and i used to really love pacman! i can hear that music in my head now!

we only have a playstation and nintendo ds' at home. no wii, though maybe i'd get one in the future. gotta clean house first to make space!

  14. honda si boy:

wow, lots of people not getting an early bedtime tonight! :)

  15. snow:

(pssst... hey, who told ukuhead that a new post was up?? )

  16. Shauna:

snow: What ODD timing!! The important thing is you are here now representing the lovely honeyBEEs that we are!! :D

Ukuhead: Conspiracy?? Wrong blog! And you're starting to laugh like our dear friend, HNL2LAS!!

BananaFysh: There's a pattern to solving the cube???? And you memorized them?!?!

honda si boy: Who do you play with? Yourself?? I'm talking about the Nintendo games, etc...

  17. snow:

    oh... uuhhh... hi ukuhead!

    *drats*

  18. BananaFysh:

Whoa, I can't imagine dropping that kinda cash for a NES cartridge! Or ANY video game, for that matter!

17 grand would buy me a whole lot of home theater though. ;)

  19. opso:

    sup!
ho......all da vampires and one vampiress stay out!

  20. Shauna:

snow: See, that's why we just click! As I mentioned in this post, I just love Zuma. But Pac-Man has always been my favorite arcade game!!! They used to have it at D&Bs. They still have the sit-down one at Spaghetti Factory! I also love Tetris and Galaxians!! Luxor sounds good though I don't know what it is...

  21. snow:

qb - what? you said ukuhead laughs like HNL2LAS? noooo... not possible!! ukuhead can't be anything like our sweet HNL2LAS! of course, though, ukuhead's been known to have a split personality... oh wait... wasn't he last to get to ryan's????? hmmm... i might have to give this a little more thought! :?

  22. Shauna:

opso: Eh, can you count? Got TWO vampiresses out!!

BananaFysh: MayBEE that guy doesn't go out so he has a lot of extra money??

  23. opso:

sheesh.....the original rubiks cube was hard enough!

i was like BF and used da cheat sheet to do it and sorta memorized it. then i would show some ODDah peeps and whop their jaws. haha!

  24. sally:

@Shauna: High Five your comment to hsib about who he plays with. LOL

@hsib: I handed the baton to Shauna

Did anyone get #197 on previous post? That's the winning number.

  25. snow:

hey, opso! wow, full crew tonight! :)

  26. snow:

hi hi sally! hey, no insomnia tonight, i hope!!

  27. Ukuhead:

snow: be nice... I'm watching

  28. opso:

oh sorry.....i thot you went go sleep awready. but i guess you getting your fix of bejeweled in.

  29. opso:

um.....make that 3 vampiresses now.

  30. BananaFysh:

@HSiB -- I used to solve the cube by "layers." I used to solve the white face on top, and work my way down. I can still solve to the second layer, and can put the corners on the bottom layer in the correct place, but it's the last 4 "edges" on that bottom layer that I forget the patterns for.

My friends and I used to race to solve when I was in school. That was pretty fun. If you had one of the knock-offs and not the "genuine cube," sometimes it would break apart if you twisted it and the pieces weren't aligned just so.
    ;)

Oh, and I haven't seen that movie. :(
That's the Wil Smith one, right?

  31. Ukuhead:

shauna: isn't that how you end all discombobulated posts???

  32. snow:

qb - luxor is pretty similar to zuma. my BIL introduced me to the game when he heard i was addicted to zuma. thanks to him for making me stay up late, many many nights! i want to play bejeweled blitz, too, but i'm afraid of what i might do to myself! ha ha!

  33. honda si boy:

shauna: how rude! are you asking if i play with myself?!??! no no, no barry here.
most of the games i play are fine with one player. nobunaga's ambition has you as a japanese daimyo trying to rule japan. you probably know simcity. sports games against other players are ok, but i'd rather go outside and play real football or basketball. games like halo or doom i usually play with my friends.

  34. BananaFysh:

    3 .... 3 vampiresses! Nyah-ha-ha!
    ;)

  35. sally:

I never was a Rubik's gal. Was afraid to kill brain cells. My sis in law emails me some games off of Stumble. Fun for awhile then I get over it. I played Bejeweled (was gonna abbrev it but thought better of it) when AOL had it. Not on FB so don't play it there. Maybe I got ADD?

    My eyeballs are falling.

@Snow, we needed you earlier tonight.

  36. snow:

qb - it would be crazy to play a game like scattergories at a triad party! i used to play pictionary with my friends and we'd be crying from laughing so hard by the time it was over!

  37. sally:

Shauna #197!!! Congratulations, what prize are you giving yourself?

  38. honda si boy:

BF: hahaha, oh man, that must BEE traumatizing to a school kid to find out that his/her parents bought them a counterfeit rubix cube after it falls apart in the heat of battle! :P

yup, the movie is the will smith one. i mentioned it cause his character solves the rubix cube real easily! and he does it with nice clean teeth!

  39. Shauna:

sally: Uh-oh! You woke up! I went back and claimed #197 and have a sweet dessert waiting for the next winner!

opso/BananaFysh: I still can't BEElieve there was a cheat sheet!! We need to have a Rubik's cube contest at the next get together!!

snow: I know what you mean about getting hooked. I'm debating if I want to buy Zuma!! I'm worried I may never leave the computer. I probably have carpal tunnel as I'm already chained to my computer all day!

  40. BananaFysh:

Pictionary is fun! For added fun, add in some "adult words."

    hee hee hee ;)

  41. snow:

    hsib said:

how rude! are you asking if i play with myself?!??! no no, no barry here.

i guess it wasn't you nekkid on that plane...

  42. Shauna:

honda si boy: So you do a lot of solo playing? I'm just clarifying what you said! ;)

sally: Thanks for the fist bump on the honda si boy comment! And yeah, don't know if you want to get hooked on BJ!!

  43. snow:

bananafysh - adult pictionary? sometimes you have people who draw so badly that you could get pictures like that without trying! but, yikes... you'd actually have to guess out loud, eh?

  44. opso:

me.....i also like RPGs. especially the Grand Theft Auto series. i like the free roaming aspect of those. so i can go all vigilante and smoke all dem perps at will. haha!
also played Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion, and currently playing Godfather 2.

i also played some FPSs like Doom 3, Far Cry and Crysis. some of the Need 4 Speed series is good too. :D
looking to get a NASCAR game too.

  45. BananaFysh:

@HSiB -- Ahhh, nice clean teeth are over-rated.

    haha!

Yeah, that cube falling apart in your hands is almost as bad as hiding cigars in your diaper, and smoking the wrong "cigar."

  46. snow:

sally - yeah, shucks, my son was on the computer until after 11! but, at least he finished his take home exam for summer school!

  47. Shauna:

sally: honda si boy won the chocolate lava cake with its hot erupting layers of liquid sweetness...

snow/BananaFysh: Scattegories and Pictionary would BEE fun with a slight adult version...

OK, I better go to bed as I almost did a double shift today!

sally/snow: You keep the BEES in line! :D

  48. snow:

    bananafysh said:

Yeah, that cube falling apart in your hands is almost as bad as hiding cigars in your diaper, and smoking the wrong "cigar."

guess it depends which "cigar" you BEE smoking...

  49. honda si boy:

whoa, i'm getting ganged up on from sally and shauna! S&S twins! what's going on here?!?!?!? hahahaha! uhmmm, and what's this about getting hooked on BJ?!?!?! :P how dangerous to go down that abbreviation with BF and the gang lurking here!

    shauna: thanks for the cake!
with me being all solo, i think i need to find someone to play with...like i mentioned in the previous post! it's hard!

  50. sally:

@snow: no insomnia, will be hitting the hay pretty after this. Zuma! I played that on AOL too. I like the sound ZOOOMAH!

@BananaFysh: Ever tried Playdoh Pictionary? Instead of drawing, you make the object out of Playdoh. My friend had the word chicken and made the sorriest looking Playdoh Chicken but someone guessed it. Then I had rooster. So I took his chicken and added anatomy. TaDa! Rooster! LOL

    Oyasumi everyone!

  51. snow:

    qb - good night!

*wondering what clean teeth have to do with it*

  52. snow:

good night sally! get a good night's sleep! :)

  53. BananaFysh:

I have Wii and the new DS -- The DSi. That thing is fun! It has a camera, and you can record short audio clips and alter the sounds. It has some amusement value there.

The bad thing about the camera is that it makes a loud "shutter noise" that you can't shut off. I guess that's so pervs can't get their "panty shots" on the sly. ;)

Not that I would ever do that of course!

  54. snow:

*wondering if hsib can handle all that sweetness erupting from his chocolate lava cake!*

  55. honda si boy:

snow: hahaha! now wouldn't you BEE too innocent to play BF's pictionary game? heehee.

BF: ooo, that would BEE horrible to smoke the wrong "cigar"...now what movie was it that the pool cleaner finds the floating chocolate candy bar floating in the pool where everyone else thought it was a piece of doodoo but the pool cleaner guy picked it up and ate it? argh, i can't think of the title...

  56. opso:

oooh.....pictionary is fuuuun. we used play that alot at party. they guys would always beat the girls. hmm....i can't imagine why.

pr0n adult pictionary would BEE awesome!
again......the guys would garans ika ball barans win that no problemo. haha!!

    oooh....challenge!!

  57. snow:

bananafysh - my son has the new DSi. i was thinking of trading my DS in but i wasn't sure if it would be worth it.

  58. BananaFysh:

    Good night Sally and Queenie!

Try not to have too many BJ dreams.

Oh, I like that game Cranium too, and it has a game that's like that Play-doh Pictionary.

That's pretty fun! Gee, haven't played Cranium in a while ... if you haven't seen it BEEfore you should definitely give it a look see.

  59. snow:

opso - the guys would always beat the girls at pictionary? that's unheard of!! (to me!) challenge???? hey, but get more BBDs den honeyBEEs! :?

*BBD version of pictionary might BEE embarassing  *

  60. opso:

    g'nite Queenie and Sally!

    hsib - wasn't that Caddyshack? :?

  61. snow:

BananaFysh - Playdoh Pictionary sounds interesting! I think I've played Cranium before... but, of course, I can't really remember! Ha ha!

  62. opso:

snow - i guess cause da guys were pretty much on da same wavelength. get to the gist of it......quick and dirty using whatever means necessary.
whereas da girls would take a long roundabout way to try and draw the word and try to draw it too nicely.

  63. honda si boy:

opso: ooo, was it that movie? i'll have my roommate netflix that one and i'll watch it! while i'm eating my burger from the counter...and trying not to get a wiff of BF's "cigar." hahaha!

  64. BananaFysh:

@snow -- If you play the Game Boy Advance games on your DS, then the upgrade to the DSi isn't worth it.

I bought it because the screen was a little bigger, and I wanted to play with the camera. ;)

  65. snow:

ukuhead - i only said i was nice to the honeyBEEs! but, i stil got my halo ON! and, hey... congrats, you got the lucky number #27!

*adjusting the bobby pins on my halo  and wondering if i need to BEE nice to ukuhead because he got lucky  *

  66. BananaFysh:

opso get um! That was Caddyshack with the Baby Ruth floating in the pool.

    "Doodie!" haha!

  67. honda si boy:

snow: oh boy...pictionary in the hive? that would BEE nc17 i think...
a clam! a bearded clam!! (darn it, BF, what is that!?!?!?! next!!) uhmmmm, a beaver! a stick! a light saber! BARRY BEAVER!!!! (dang, we suck at this game! what is that drawing?!?!?!)

  68. honda si boy:

opso and BF: a'ight! opso beat out the two video store clerks!!! hahaha!

  69. snow:

opso - aaaahhh, i see. i guess when i used to play, it was the opposite 'cause i was playing with a bunch of guys who were art majors and could draw really well! me, i draw like cr*p, so i draw fast! ha ha!

  70. snow:

hsib - HA HA HA!! that is totally how it would BEE and totally funny!! cracked me up just thinking about it!

  71. snow:

bananafysh - hmmm... maybe just keep my DS for now. i like it, it's pink. ha ha!

  72. snow:

oh! i remember that scene from caddyshack! i still thought it was gross, even if it was chocolate! yuck, cooties on that thing!

  73. Ukuhead:

snow: haven't got lucky yet. soon though

  74. BananaFysh:

I have a friend who is AWESOME at guessing stuff! I swear she cheats or has psychic abilities.

We were playing Cranium in that Play-Doh Pictionary like-game, and her team rolled the clay into a ball, and she guessed "Saturn."

AND SHE WAS RIGHT!!! Worship The Fruit, man!?!?! No "ring around the planet" or anything. Just a ball.

    No can. She cheat.

  75. snow:

hsib - i forgot to answer you... yes, i would BEE too innocent to play BBD pictionary! i could draw fast but i'd lose BEEcause i wouldn't know any answers!!

  76. BananaFysh:

@snow -- I think the DS has a better battery life than the DSi too. So that might BEE worth it there.

I would think you would want the larger screen, however. ;)

Just guessing. hee hee hee

  77. opso:

BF - haha! yeah the baby ruth. mmm....

snow - yeah.....one time my friend thought that her mom......who is an arteest would BEE good at pictionary and wanted her to play on her team. but she would take long time and try draw all fancy shmancy n stuff and my friend would get all mad/impatient with her. haha! too funny.

  78. snow:

ukuhead - getting #27 might be as lucky as you're going to get! don't be greedy!

*calling mrs. ukuhead to warn her  *

  79. snow:

bananafysh - why would i need a larger screen? i could still hold it the same length away... ha! maybe i gotta take a look at my son's one again... of course, i didn't even notice the screen size on his DSi!

  80. BananaFysh:

@snow -- Oh, I just thought your arm might BEE a lil' "too short" for the DS, so the bigger screen would BEE better.

    haha!

Oh, you almost made me spit all over my screen when you mentioned you would BEE "too innocent" to play BBD Pictionary!

  81. snow:

opso - when i played pictionary with my artist friends, i had the word "discus" come up. i drew a circle with all these lines behind it (to show that it was flying, of course!) and my team won that word. i turned around and one of the guys had drawn this muscular greek-looking guy in that discus-throwing pose... wow! it was super awesome... but he took too long and they lost! awww... i laughed but i knew we would win after seeing that! lol...

  82. opso:

hsib - i teenk you and BF only Vividly ;) remembah da pr0n vids dass why. :P

  83. BananaFysh:

@opso -- Funny about the "arteest" making the picture all nice and stuff.

I admit, sometimes I'm guilty of that too. ;)

Sometimes, just gotta draw the stick man, yeah? ;)

  84. snow:

bananafysh - oh, at the rate i'm going, i'm gonna need the DS in laptop size! ha ha! and, what? i assume i nearly made you spit on your screen BEEcause you didn't think i'd be so bold to announce that i was so innocent... ??? of course, i know it wasn't necessary BEEcause it BEE quite evident, right?

  85. snow:

woo hoo! banana, we gotta play pictionary! you can make all your nice-y nice drawings for your team!

  86. opso:

    k-den BEEps.......i going moe moe.

    g'nite!

and g'morning to da early crew.

OL - save me some coffee. black please.

  87. BananaFysh:

@opso -- Why, I have NO idea what you are talking about.

    pr0n videos? Why I never!

    haha!

  88. BananaFysh:

    good night opso!

  89. snow:

    good night opso!

  90. snow:

wow, i thought i had posted twice! banana, you type just like me!

  91. honda si boy:

opso: hahaha! the edu-ma-cation-al films huh?

snow: too funny the pictionary stories! speed is the name of the game!

time for me to go sleep too! early work tomorrow!

  92. BananaFysh:

@snow -- I think you made a puka in your screen with your nose after that "innocent" comment.

  93. snow:

bananafysh - sorry, i don't think you're as convincing as i am. not that anyone needs to be convinced about me.

  94. snow:

    good night hsib!

  95. BananaFysh:

@snow -- No, I was FIRST, so that means YOU TYPE LIKE ME!

    hahahaha!!!

  96. snow:

bananafysh - puka in my screen? never!

*still get planny space before i make puka!*

  97. snow:

bananafysh - i just took longer to hit "submit." ha ha!

  98. snow:

'k den... i gotta go sleep too. you know, before i fall asleep and reeeeally make puka in my screen! ;)

    good night banana!

good night and good morning HIVE!

  99. BananaFysh:

    Good night HSib and snow!

  100. snow:

oh wait... one last one... banana, i guess it's okay if i type like you as long as i don't THINK LIKE YOU! ha ha! good night again, banana!

  101. opso:

dang! i cannot stop F5ing. you funny fellers keeping me up!

BF - y'know........i know some peeps that cannot even draw stick man legibly. haha!!

k-den.....for realz i going sleep. *yawn*

  102. BananaFysh:

No rhyme or reason as to the songs I post other than they are mostly alternative music.....if it sounds GUUD, I post it.

Not a bad day, with near normal temperatures and mostly sunny skies. Valley highs will range from 101-106 with an afternoon breeze at 10-15 mph. A big warm-up is in the forecast, where highs are expected to soar near records by the weekend. Plan something "cool" for Saturday & Sunday! -Sarah Walters

Wow! I should stick to MLC. No can stay up dat late! How ODD dat you BEEps have such sense of humor(s) that time of the day (night)!

  111. M:

Good Morning Ynaku, anklebiters and da hive!

Wow, the vampire crew was out in full force last night!

My son loves the Rubik's cube. He has every shape and style, 3x3, 4x4, 6x6, round, pyramid, octagon and he would love this new new one too. He can solved all of them and the 3x3 cube in under 30 sec.

We have the PS2 and the Wii and I have never played any games on them.

  112. M:

    Good Morning hanapaa!

  113. sally:

    Good Morning Hivemates!

Wow, and I thought I stayed up late posting last night! Mabe its not ME w/ insomnia. LOL

@anklez: I take it you don't live in HNL then. If it ever got to triple digits here, we would declare an emergency day off. Where do you bee living?

CarColor Personality Test? What about white, because that's the color of the car that I got really really cheap w/ really really low mileage?

  114. Ynaku:

WHO'S ADDICTED TO Bejeweled Blitz on FB? I only got past the 75K mark :?

What games do I like playing? How about Spin da Bottle with FEMALE hotties?

We have at home PS2, the Wii, Nintendo DS, playing cards (you remember those right?)

As for the rubik cube. forget it, no patience or talent. Too much thinking hurts my brain. My brain tired from the mental strain at work. best have a few beeas to relax.

  115. M:

I go to bed by 9:30-10:00. No can stay up late, gotta get up by 5am. I don't really post after I get home from work, things to do and spend time with kids and masako.

  116. KAN:

Holy cats Hive! Lots of "work" by the vampire crew last night!

Snow, girl, you were totally on a roll!!! Fist bumps for ##54, 65, 75, and 100!

[watch da BEEBEEdees go back and look which numbers I'm talking about.]

  117. KAN:

I like games, but I get totally obsessive-compulsive about them. The only electronic game I got totally and completely hooked on was Tetris, waaaaaay back in the day when I played it on my 286 laptop. (The 286 was obsolete even when I got it.) I'm afraid to get hooked on any new games. I hold the distinction in my age group of NEVER having played Space Invaders. I used to like watching my friends play, especially one friend who used to add her own sound effects.

I like most card games (old school - shows why I belong on MLC).

  118. Eli:

    Good Morning

    Wow...busy BEES last night.
I was never good at solving the Rubik's cube. I think I was able to solve only two sides. So I always took apart the Rubik's cube pieces and put all the same colors back together. That was my way of solving the puzzle. :P

I enjoyed playing sudoku, bejeweled, and majong solitare. I have a PS3 and Wii at home and mainly play first person shooters, sports and racing games on the PS3. On the Wii I just have the Wii fit and super mario kart. It was fun playing mario kart online.

  119. Ocean Lover:

    Good Morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dang mouse at home DIED AGAIN or someting.

Talk bout "cha cha" last night..........WOW! Over 100 posts already!

Rubik's cube......I'm inept at solving that yet Da Teenager can do it in around a minute or so.

Time to play the daily "games".

OL................its HUMP day! Go HUMP someone...........

  120. anklebiters:

    Hey KAN:

My soul mate will be in your neck of the woods next week. She'll be in Vancouver but was hoping to spend the weekend in Seattle. MayBEE you two can hookup for lunch or something :?:

  121. sally:

Who all lives in Seattle? Did you go see my friends at the Boomer Blast?

  122. midori-mm:

snow...i'm pretty much addicted to Zuma right now but I'll be checking out Luxor. At one time I was really hooked on Space Invaders.

  123. midori-mm:

if anybody wants a challenge, they should try Bump in the Arcades on Pogo.com

  124. Brother Love:

btw gang referring to the "doodie scene in the movie" yah that was caddyshack and the guy was bill murray. he was great in that movie as the groundskeeper for the golf course. that movie was a classic, chevy chase was the golf pro (tye) you remember him na na n na na na na. other funny scenes was when BM was talkin dirty to the ol ladys playing thru as he made the holes on the golf course, then (tye) plays night golf and his ball lands on BM grass table which he grew (kentucky blue & sensimilla) you could play golf on and get stoned out of your mind off of it later lol. co-star of that movie was the gopher too, and rodney dangerfield was the obnoxious rich guy and the uptight judge was shmells cant remember his real name but it was so funny when dangerfield dropped his anchor on shmells lil sloop and it sunk lol.
here is a lil truth on chevy chase, did you know he was a drummer in a band as a young dude. he was'nt that good though so left the band and that band became famous after that (steeley dan)...

  125. teejay:

PS3. God of War III and Drake's Uncharted are the two games I'm waiting for.Resident Evil 5 was good and so was Infamous.

  126. Ukuhead:

Hanapaa: Snow's funnier late at night. (she get all punchy).

M: You can hang with the vampire crew too. I usually gotta get up at 5:30. We dont need no stinkin' sleep.

midori-mm: I had a paid pogo account for years, but I gave it up since I can play most of the games and more on FB.

  127. chawan_cut:

    tetris

  128. Shauna:

    MORNING!! :D

midori-mm: Cool! Another person who likes zuma! As sally says, I also "like the sound ZOOOMAH!"

Ocean Lover/M: I just cannot BEElieve that your kids can solve the cube that fast!!! They must BEE super smart. It takes a certain kind of brain to figure out puzzles, etc...

KAN: Weren't most people a Tetris fan cause that was one of the first puzzle games of the new generation? Or was that just one of the first puzzle games I remember?

anklebiters: Yeah, what does the car color white say about you???

  129. M:

Shauna, my son even has the professional version of the cube. He can adjust how lose to make it. He can even do it with one hand. Sometimes he's going so fast, the cube flies apart. I think he has done it under 24 sec.

  130. Brother Love:

never heard of zuma, but remember zima that that clear alcohol bev that the slogan said was not a beer

  131. anklebiters:

    Shauna:

    White says:

You will never pick on a yellow-car person. You will always honor and worship that said yellow-car person. :-) :-)

  132. KAN:

Ankles: when is your soulmate gonna be in Seattle?

  133. anklebiters:

    KAN:

I think she's flying in to Vancouver on the 16th, visiting a client on the 17th there, and then spending Fri evening and Sat/Sun in Seattle. At least that is what she told me so far.

  134. Brother Love:

Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, and Cindy Crawford are flying to a super models conference in Paris, when the captain of the plane announces: "We have just lost power to the engines and are going to make an emergency crash landing -- assume the brace position immediately!"

Immediately the three models start preparing for the worst. Claudia pulls out lipstick and make-up and starts fixing her face. Bewildered, Naomi and Cindy ask: "What in the hell are you doing fixing your make-up when we are about to friggin' crash!"

Claudia responds: "I know for a fact the rescue workers will search for, and save first, the ones who have the best looking faces -- which is why I am putting on my make-up."

Cindy Crawford rips open her blouse to expose two beautiful mounds of flesh which inexplicably defy the law of gravity. Totally confused, Naomi and Claudia shout: "Cindy, have you lost your senses? Why are you baring your breasts for everyone to see when we are about to die!"

Cindy responds: "I have it on good authority in plane crashes, the rescue workers look to save first the women with big beautiful breasts -- which is why I am exposing my boobs!"

Not hesitating, Naomi Campbell pulls down her skirt and panties to expose herself." Freaking out, Claudia and Cindy yell: "Naomi -- Are you crazy?? Why are you exposing your crotch for everyone to see?"

Calmly, Naomi responds: "LADIES PLEASE! I know for a fact the first thing the rescue workers look for in plane crashes is a black box!"

  135. KAN:

Ankles, my mother-out-law is staying with us that weekend, so I'm not sure we'll be able to tear away for lunch.

  136. Eli:

Everyone on Hawaii time, don't forget to look at the clock today when it hits 12:34:56 7/8/9. Yes I did open up the clock icon on my computer over here so i can see the seconds tick towards 56 seconds. :D
It was a neat moment then it was back to work.

  137. BananaFysh:

    Good Morning Hive!

@M -- Wow, I like see your son solve the Rubik's Cube!

I heard that the way I solve it is the MLC method. ;)

The new way is to solve multiple faces at the same time. I dunno how that works. :?

  138. Shauna:

Eli: Cool! Send us a reminder during Hawaii time!!

Brother Love: That supermodel joke was funny!!

anklebiters: I don't like what the description is for a white car! I want another one!!

  139. snow:

good morning HIVE! yes, it's still morning BEEps!

opso - thanks! sorry, i sniped you like i sniped qb... without even knowing! i just had to get my last dig in there for banana and got the new #1! hee hee...

KAN - thanks for the fist bumps (by the way, i had to scroll up, too! ha ha!!) the BBDs were just leaving so much ammuni... oops, i mean... they were having such wonderful discussions that i just had to join in! ;)

  140. snow:

midori-mm - i was totally addicted to space invaders, too! loved that game! check out luxor, it's pretty similar to zuma... i think you'll like it!

OL & M - my son can solve the rubric's cube in less than a minute, too. don't know why he can't figure out other things so quickly!! ;) M, where'd your son get all his other cubes from? my son wanted to try some of the others but we haven't seen them.

  141. Ocean Lover:

    SNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW,

My "teenager" can solve the Rubik's cube fast....but the buggah NO MOA COMMON SENSE. Smart guys are usually like that. :-(

Is there any COMMON SENSE courses out dere?

OL........................worried bout Da Teenager when it comes to COMMON SENSE

  142. jaydee:

    Hi all!!

    M:
Wow, that's pretty awesome about your son solving the Rubik cube under 30 seconds. I solved it once many many years ago....and it was more like 30 hours not 30 seconds! lol

    Brother Love:
Very funny joke! I never saw that coming! :)

  143. snow:

OL - tell me about it... my son no mo' common sense, too! if you find out where they teach that, lemme know!!

  144. M:

snow, we got some in Japan, the professional version was from Japan and he got some from Tinker Toys.

  145. jaydee:

I used to play those arcade games like Phoenix, Galaga and Missile Command. I do have the Playstation but have forced myself not to get involved with it again. I was totally addicted to it and spent too many hours trying to beat my previuos scores. Evil, very evil.... ;)

Now I just do the crossword puzzles in the L.A. Times. The Sunday one is my favorite.

  146. anklebiters:

    Shauna:

    White #2 says:

Owners of white colored cars are as pure as SNOW sugar...they wish to be silver (high status) but are currently in a transition phase, waiting for an Orange (up and coming popular color) Lexus. But their right-tilt lean for redness (passion) will always guide them towards the yellow-car persons.

  147. Shauna:

Woo-hoo!! Special delivery of my favorite caramel apple spice!! Too bad I didn't have it last night when I had some of those virtual malasadas! :D Thanks, Mr. Top BEE! ;)

  148. anklebiters:

My favorite game is Breakout Galaxian <Centipede Galaga PONG.... it's so difficult to master, the graphics are cutting edge, and the knob for the paddle movement took some getting use to, and the audio was like that of a sonar in a u-boat. It sure beats anything being made these days :!:

  149. anklebiters:

My favorite game is Breakout Galaxian Centipede Galaga PONG.... it's so difficult to master, the graphics are cutting edge, and the knob for the paddle movement took some getting use to, and the audio was like that of a sonar in a u-boat. It sure beats anything being made these days :!:

  150. Shauna:

anklebiters: Too many wrong things about that statement!!

Owners of white colored cars are as pure as SNOW sugar...they wish to be silver (high status) but are currently in a transition phase, waiting for an Orange (up and coming popular color) Lexus. But their right-tilt lean for redness (passion) will always guide them towards the yellow-car persons.

Though silver status was funny!! Is orange really the up-and-coming color????

jaydee: Sunday crosswords??? Wow!! And yes, games are evil. Why are they so addicting? Are we hard-wired to try and win? And going back to the old post, you never told me if you drive the Infiniti or Lexus. My guess was the Infiniti...

  151. Shauna:

Ocean Lover/snow: I need some common-sense classes also!!! I should save this topic for a future post but good schooling will offer courses that will make a difference as these kids grow up and live in the real world. Geography and history are all good and stuff, but too much of it is just memorizing. Heck, I can't even tell you where all the 50 states are! :( But learning to cook rice (in home ec) or sew a button probably will BEE more useful. Though this goes in to the question of what the teachers and parents' responsibilities are. Is it the school's job to teach kids how to live a basic life? Or is it just to give them the tools they need to get by in life???

M: I still can not get over the fact that your son can solve that cube in under 30 seconds!!! I wanna BEE the one to get the cube out of order and then see him do it... And I didn't even know they had all those different size cubes...

BananaFysh/opso: You still didn't tell me about that cheat sheet for the cube...

  152. anklebiters:

    Shauna:

TOO many wrongs makes a right :!:

The Orange 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T comes to mind. I know Honda has Orange colored Fit's for sale.

I never in a millions years thought I would have a yeller car....it's still a very popular color since its introduction in '00.

  153. Rodney:

First of all - To solve Rubik's cube, I applied the "mechanical" concept. It involves taking apart the little pieces that make up the cube, then snapping them back together with the colors on the proper sides.
No, I didn't peel off the colored stickers. That's the "painters" concept.

As for video games - wait. Um Queenie, video game players are called "gamers", not "players". Morgan Webb  is a gamer. Charley Harper is a player.

Would you believe I still have my Colecovision? With cartridges such as Donkey Kong and Burgertime. Got the Atari adapter too - it's stuck in the main unit.

My choice of games were platform games - such as Super Mario. Next would be the puzzle games - because you can quit at any time - unlike RPGs and platforms where you need to get to a save point.

Speaking of games - checked out bejeweled blitz last night on FB.
ADDICTING! Even got Paula playing it.

  154. honda si boy:

wassup gang! what a BRIGHT and SUNNY day it is today, huh queenie?!

so anklebiters and shauna, what does it say about people who drive black cars? dark and mysterious? charming? :P

anklebiters: pong?!?!? hmmm, what about "combat" for the atari 2600? now that was a cutting age game!

  155. Brother Love:

i may be a lil biased here but i will give up booksmarts before i give up streetsmarts (common sense). without common sense you are basically programmable to think and do w/out regard to what how you feel. you see a lot of successful ppl out there w/ booksmarts and a lot of them lose in the end cuz they were actually stupid.
if you want to test yourself on whether you have common sense try answering this riddle,,,

you are driving through a run down ghetto area which is known for assaults, drug dealing, and theft. you get a flat tire, and your cell phone has no reception. you start to change the tire but then lose all of the lugnuts for the tire. WHAT DO YOU DO?

  156. honda si boy:

anklebiters: i saw that copper/orange colored fit the other day, i must say, i wish i got the fit...it's a cute car! i think it's the modern day version of what the old civic (CVCC) used to BEE in the 70s. they even have mugen parts for it although no matter how much money you sink in that car, it'll never BEE faster than a nice yellow 8 cylinder american muscle car!

  157. honda si boy:

ankle: american muscle...that reminds me, one of my first introductions to american muscle came with my friends brand new camaro. he installed a borla dual tip exhaust and when he revved the engine in the parking lot one day, he set off two car alarms! hahaha, that was impressive!

bro love: having a car with a five lug pattern, i think i could get by with three tires having four lugs and one tire having three lugs. (take one lugnut off of each good tire, apply to changed tire). enough so to get to the nearest service station or something.

  158. HNL2LAS:

holy freak... 157 comments already? dang....

'kay now I go back up and read.. whoa....

  159. honda si boy:

ynaku: re: #114, playing cards! i used to play solitaire a lot, and then i realized it's so much easier to play it on my computer...no cards flying around, and everything is nice and neat...but cards are good for playing "rich man poor man," "poker," blackjack," and "trumps." :)

  160. honda si boy:

moderation on 159?!?!?! wtf?!?!? i didn't even use the word "sh0es"

  161. honda si boy:

    maybe "poker?"

  162. honda si boy:

    nope... "blackjack?"

  163. honda si boy:

a-hah! you can't write "bl@ckj@ck" why is that?

  164. honda si boy:

    here's #159 again...

ynaku: re: #114, playing cards! i used to play solitaire a lot, and then i realized it's so much easier to play it on my computer...no cards flying around, and everything is nice and neat...but cards are good for playing "rich man poor man," "poker," bl@ckj@ck," and "trumps." :)

  165. Shauna:

honda si boy: You got the last lucky number even when it went into moderation! Today must BEE your lucky day! It's like you saw a queen or something... ;)

HNL2LAS: Hurry and catch up!! :D

  166. Shauna:

Brother Love: Now that is a GOOD riddle for I am stumped (or stupid)! Here were some panicky thoughts going through my head:
    - Just drive with one flat tire! I'd rather scrape a rim than die by some thug's beefy hands!
    - LOCK your car up and then run out of there as fast as you can to the nearest safe place.
    - Just sit in your car till help arrives (though upon further pondering that would BEE pointless as you can't even call for help!).
    - Give a passer-by some money to help you??

honda si boy: I must admit that your idea never crossed my mind!

having a car with a five lug pattern, i think i could get by with three tires having four lugs and one tire having three lugs. (take one lugnut off of each good tire, apply to changed tire). enough so to get to the nearest service station or something.

    Would that really work?

I wanna hear some other answers BEEfore Brother Love tells us who has common sense or not!!!

  167. Shauna:

Rodney: I did think gamers was a more appropriate word but I like the word players bet and thought it made for a sexier title. ;) (Let's see if Ukuhead can come up with a better one!) You cube cheater!! What are you planning to do with your archaic game systems?? And yes, I thought I saw you on Bejeweled!!! :D

  168. Eli:

Brother Love: I wouldn't even get out of the car to fix the flat. I would drive on the rim until I get to a safe area. Hopefully cell phone reception get better and I call AAA. If not I find a store that is open 24 hours and use the phone there.

  169. Shauna:

anklebiters: Yes, we did mention in the past that many wrongs make a right! Did you check your e-mail? A hot yeller is sitting in your inbox!!

  170. Shauna:

Eli: Great minds think alike! (Can't wait to hear what Brother Love has to say about our idea!) Other options would BEE to always have two fully charged cell phones on you with different service providers to ensure reception from either of them. Make sure you don't lose the lugnuts as you're fixing the tire!! But the smartest thing to do is NOT drive through a ghetto area!!! Take the longer but safer route!! I got common sense, I got common sense!!

  171. HNL2LAS:

what???no one wrote at 12:34:56???? ai ya! hehe

  172. HNL2LAS:

Ukuhead is BEEcoming like me.. the way he's laughing?? Snow is like BF??? Oh MY! What is the world (errr da HIVE) coming to??? oohhh wait.. snow TYPES like BF? Whew..... *wipe brow*

snow: you are right... as long as you don't THINK like BF...bhahaha... uhmmm that would BEE really hard actually tho yah? Innocent mind would have to BEE seriously corrupted to think like BF!

  173. honda si boy:

queenie: my day started good cause i got an email from ms. perfect! :)

  174. HNL2LAS:

ooooh we should play games like Pictionary at a hive or triad event~ It'd BEE darn funny! Baahaha... especially like HsiB said.... with the Musketeers not knowin what "stuff" means???

  175. Shauna:

HNL2LAS: Oh yeah, Eli forgot to remind us! Well you and I got closest to 12:34:56 so that makes us both winners! :D And fist bump on #172!! We all still got our halos in place, fastened with those tiny bobby pins! :D

  176. HNL2LAS:

    Hooked on BJ..... BAHAHAHAHAHA!....

  177. HNL2LAS:

    Queenie: another special delivery?? wow....

  178. HNL2LAS:

Rubik's cube in UNDER a minute??? daaaaannng... I never finished it... took off the stickers, I was getting so futless when it came out and I could NOT solve it!

  179. Rodney:

@HNL2LAS - my MLC entry posted at 05:06 07/08/09.

  180. Ocean Lover:

I'd take a lug nut off each of the other 3 tires and put it on the 4th

    OL...........get SOME common sense

  181. Ocean Lover:

Went back to read the other posts and HONDA got um BEEfore me! I guess that would BEE the "common sense" answer. That and have the tire iron at the ready to swing at the gang members coming to rob you and aim for their "nads".

    OL..................gotta do stuff to survive

  182. Rodney:

    You folks remember this puzzle?
    http://twitpic.com/9qbtf

  183. Shauna:

Rodney: I don't remember that puzzle... how do you even play it???

Ocean Lover: Aw, you have the same answer as honda si boy?? I'm still waiting to hear others... I want to know if I got common sense or not!! Speaking of which, isn't it silly if people keep all their car tools under the trunk mat?

  184. Rodney:

@Shauna - it's simple. You just have to make each side of the row of 4 blocks have one of each color. For example, in the picture I linked to, you see how the front and top each have one Red, White, Blue, and Green color.
However, the other 2 sides of the row of blocks looks like this:
    http://twitpic.com/9qea5

  185. Scott:

I have a small hammer I keep under my driver's seat in case I need to break the glass in case of an emergency, for whatever reason. I always fear that I'll see some kid, or dog, left in a hot car and not bee able to help by breaking the glass.

Or, if I need to throw down with some punks in the street, I can use my extensive martial arts training ( i.e., watching Jean Claude Van Dam movies as a teen) and bust some Bloodsport moves to FINISH THEM!

  186. M:

Re: lugnuts, that will work in an emergency situation.

I have a truck and I carry jumper cables, rope, anti-freeze, duct tape, hose clamps and tools behind my back seat.

  187. Shauna:

M: LOL! Sorry, I couldn't help but think "kidnapper" when I saw duct tape!! ;)

Scott: Yeah, bust out your moves! Not talking about your Hammer ones!

Ocean Lover: Just read a story about the House considering a funding increase for food stamps! Those locals you saw at the bakery will definitely BEE eating better than you if it passes...

  188. Shauna:

    I BEE #188!! :D

  189. HNL2LAS:

Uncle Rodney: WHOO HOOOO!!! hehe.... 5:06 eh??

  190. Scott:

    Shauna.....you can't touch this!

Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh Oh, can't touch this!

    (well, maybe if I wasn't married, but that's a different story ;) )

  191. Ocean Lover:

I still wanna know HOW DOES FOOD STAMPS WORK? For sure you have to meet some kind of eligibility requirements.....yet after that do you pay say $70 for $100 worth of Food Stamps and WHERE can you use it? For sure DEE LITE Bakery accepts.

AND.....its not like BEEfore where they have these "monopoly money" type coupons for the Food Stamps. I think its like a debit card as the bakery lady just asked the guy for his "PIN NUMBER".

OL...................gonna apply for FOOD STAMPS pretty soon

  192. M:

Shauna, what else do you think the duct tape was for?

  193. Ocean Lover:

Try look at the picture above..........looks like a guy with earrings.....a stupid guy who thinks an elephant's bigger than the moon.

OL.................actually an elephant IN YOUR FACE is bigger than the lil moon way up dere

  194. Brother Love:

Ok I am back, lets see

shauna- driving on the rim will damage your car and it wont steer so that is out. running around will only attract attention and then when you flash your cash what ice heads that were'nt chasing will join in to catch you cuz you gave them added motivation. we would end up seeing your pic on a milk carton or something girl dang lol. definitely what you should'nt do.

eli- sitting in your car in the middle of the ghetto is actually gonna attract attention the ice heads are getting paranoid as to why you are there and will form a group to aproach you. since you have given them all the time to prepare they will easly bust your windows to get at you and i figure you would get beaten or raped and robbed blind. while you were sitting there a couple of ice heads stole the other 3 tires on your car. they would put you in the trunk and the cops would find you next day. this is definitely not what to do

OL & hsib- taking 1 lugnut from the other 3 tires will allow you to drive the car to a safe location and get some help. that is the best thing to do and thats common sense my friends.
OL gonna take back a 1/2 pt though because your 2nd thought was to arm yourself w/ a tire iron and take on da whole hood. you clearly have been watching the gran torino movie and it seems are influenced by it lol. just so you brother even clint eastwood died in the end of that movie bro..

  195. Brother Love:

m you & i both dont have trunks and we pretty much got the same things back there (i no more duct tape though). shauna did'nt have not 1 of those things in her trunk lmao, shauna that right there should tell you something girl hahahhaha.

  196. Rodney:

  197. teejay:

One thing I learned is never play board games or card games you don't know the rules to with my son. He tells you how to play and starts changing the rules to suit his "winning". It was kinda cute when he was little.

    Brother Love:

Never leave home without a set of spare lug nuts  Besides, I have run flats so I still skeedaddle out of there with all four tires punctured :!: Zoooooooommmmmm....and out of danger in 4.8 seconds flat, no pun intended :-)

  199. Brother Love:

  200. honda si boy:

woooo, back from lunch at the counter! so now i got to try both the edge and the counter. i have to say, i wasn't that impressed with the choices at the counter. all the good stuff you had to pay extra for. and the burger was made fat (instead of larger circumference/diameter) so you couldn't fit it in your mouth. but the fries were super good! i think i'll have to go again to make a fair judgement :) maybe when i don't go with my boss on a "working lunch" so i can order alcohol!

  201. Brother Love:

    lol anklebiters
ok bro thank god you got those tire within a tire huh..

guys we gotta help out queenie, she got like half of her house in her trunk but no antifreeze or nothing in case of a vehicle emergency lol. i would love to pop her trunk and see if she got a spare tire and if she does i want to know is she knows how to change da tire lol.

heres a true story for ya,,
my wife wanted to go to somewhere and use my truck. i told her not a good idea (since i knew i had a bad tire that i was gonna get changed the next day). she takes the truck anyway thinking i was just being a jerk about it (her exact words when she called me up for help). sure enough phone rings and she is stuck asking me to come help. i am kinda mad but i go help her meanwhile she is coming up w/ reasons why she could'nt fix the tire so it was my fault. i get there and she starts going off about my truck doesnt have a spare tire yada yada yada. i tell her look under the truck and theres the spare, she then says how am i supposed to get that off you dont have the proper tools (your fault). i get the rod behind my seat and start cranking the tire down lol. she was quiet the rest of the time i changed that dang tire lol. i aint gonna lie man i made her feel so guilty about it hahhahahahahaha...

  202. honda si boy:

    whoa, i got #2!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I'm sinking lower and lower into the computer chair.

My dad LOVED pong. I think they still have the old Atari controller in the dark recesses of a back closet somewhere. I was okay at it. I remember the times when the "ball" would bounce oddly off the "paddle" with no rhyme, reason, or warning.

'kay, moving to the couch now.

But there's coffee at Ken's Pancake House with my name on it later.

  265. teejay:

    sally: You a Hilo girl?

  266. sally:

@teejay: no, I'm not. I volunteer at a keiki health camp sponsored by Hamakua Health Ctr. I did it for first time last yr and was so fun I committed to returning. The fact that it's up in the Kalopa Forest doesn't hurt. Outside a/c & gorgeous surroundings!

BUT... being a true city girl, we stay at a B&B at night. I cannot handle sleeping on a wooden bed w/ just a sleeping bag. Need my Serta!

Get lullaby'd by the coqui frogs hahaha

  267. sally:

Wow, how come the hive got so quiet? "snif snif" I did bocha.

@Brother Love: you called it on Steve McNair!

@Shauna: see? they still calling the honeybeez sweet! Like I said last night, we so sweet we gonna give 'um diabeetees!

  269. sally:

Speaking of "mom", my daughter text'd me this morning ..."guess where I am?"

I called her and the damned kid was in Vegas! Her friend took her on a Hawn Air Buddy Pass. I told her Good! cuz I sure as heck couldn't afford to take her! LOL

  270. Brother Love:

  271. Scott:

I go to Hilo twice year and eat at Ken's every time. I get the shrimp omelet, swiss cheese, egg whites, extra onion, wheat toast and coffee. MMMM. I love Hilo, but if I had to spend more than 2 days in a row I'd pull my hair out. There's nothing to do!!

  272. sally:

  273. Brother Love:

gotta try managos next time i go there aside from kens i thought the eateries over was'nt good. i tried blaines and that cafe 100 or whatever i did'nt think it was all that but alot of ppl will disagree on that. i am very particular when i eat out. i dont like eating alot of greasy stuff from da local churp & burp man i had enough of that kind of meals w/ all the truck stops i have eaten at in the mainland.

do you remember the simon & garfunkel tunes, i still listen to that sometimes also i used to like alot of motown groups as well.

  277. Brother Love:

i didnt care too much for the disco stuff in the 70s though i was into rock so when everybody was wearing those huge collared shirts and rollercoaster shoes i was into the t-shirt/jeans rolled up w/ the biker boots lol. my hair was really long back then too friggin pony tail man hahhahahaha.

  278. sally:

I like all kines music, oldies, 70's, some 80's, Standards (oh Frankie!), Hawaiian, and Blues. CCR, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ry Cooder, John Lee Hooker, Sharon Jones,.... ooooh yahhh! Just depends on the mood.

Brother Love: Comment is out of moderation!

sally: How old is your daughter? I'm jealous she's in Vegas! That's my favorite vacation spot!

  285. Ynaku:

@sally Thank you for taking the time off to help with the Hamakua Health Camp. My son went on one of those Asthma camps when he was in Elementary School. He enjoyed the time at Kalopa. Funny thing is we heard about the camp because my son got hurt on a school outing to Waipio Valley. They went into a taro patch and a stick poked his shin. It was all muddy water so the took him to the Hamakua Health center. While they were sticking up, one of the nurses mentioned the camp that she and others were putting together. So we signed up and my son enjoyed it.

Side note, my son ended up in the hospital in Hilo after his wound got infected because it wasn't draining and he ended up with e-coli and some other infections. Poor kid. But he is better now. His Asthma still bothers him and he will be a junior in High School.

Sorry for the long post. Really want to thank you for volunteering and helping the kids.

OK, now you can go enjoy Manago's pork chops and Ken's House of pancakes. Call me and maybe I join you :P

  286. Ynaku:

"Stitching" Not sticking although they were doing a good job sticking him with needles

OK tata for nor. You Vampires can have a go at it again.

  287. Brother Love:

lol that was nice to go down memory lane laterz sally..

  288. sally:

hee hee hee, having separation anxiety.

@Shauna: daughter is 21. She lives with her dad (more room at his house) so we hang out when we can.
So you get here just when I gotta leave. bye!

@Ynaku: You're so welcome. I really enjoy this camp. God's country. I'm glad to hear your son recovered, man that is scary to have your child go thru stuff like that.

Funny story: last year when we were outside, I said "Look! Chickens over there" was way across the field. One of the kids said "um Aunty, that's pheasants". LMAO! Such a city girl.

Okay, I REALLY gotta go now. BYE!!!

    bzzzzzzzz......
