Saying I'm single with this ring
November 7th, 2008 by ShaunaLadies, take note! Want to go out for a night on the town while subtlety hoping to attract the opposite sex? Slip on your single-status ring first!
A certain kind of simple band (being sold in Montreal for now) can scream you're available without being desperate. You could say it gives men the green light to approach.
It's hard to say if this new trend will have the desired effect. A brushoff from a so-called single person may leave the pursuer confused (if that person didn't realize that the attraction was one-sided).
Do you usually have trouble determining if someone is single? Is it harder knowing about a man's status because not all regularly wear their wedding ring?
On the flip side, how do you let someone politely know you are taken? If you are married, do you always wear your ring?
The good news about this single ring though is that it's relatively cheap...
New ring advertises single status
UPI
MONTREAL — A French-Canadian entrepreneur near Montreal is marketing specially designed rings that advertise the wearer is single and approachable.
Jean Thibodeau, 43, told The Gazette newspaper in Montreal the ring makes sense in Quebec's society, where marriage is becoming more scarce in favor of common-law relationships.
Thibodeau's rings, made in Hong Kong, are stainless-steel adorned with a metallic-blue paint stripe, the newspaper said. They sell for $39.95 in 12 stores in northern Montreal suburbs. Thibodeau said he plans on gradual expansion further into the province.
A saleswoman at one of the stores selling the rings said about three rings are sold each day, mostly to women.
Quebec's statistical agency backs up Thibodeau's observation on marriage — only one quarter of men and a third of women can expect to marry in their lifetime in the province, down from near nine in 10 men and women in 1966.
The report didn't specify on which, if any particular finger the ring is worn.
-----
First off, what's so special about that ring that makes it say "single"? Is this just another way to make money? And hopefully men are aware of this new piece of jewelry so there is no miscommunication!
What other ways are there to advertise your single status?
Have you also heard of single people wearing rings (cubics, if you're buying it on your own!) on their wedding hand just to avoid getting picked up? Speaking of which, what are some pickup lines that have been known to actually work?
And here's a potentially touchy subject: Do you think there's a stigma with being single after reaching a certain age? Is that age different for men and women? During my parents' day, getting married and having children in your early 20s was not uncommon. You rarely see that happening now as more people are focused on their careers first.

There's another birthday boy in The Hive today! Send your love to opso! Happy Birthday BeeBeeDee! Would you be happy if we sent a hot, single girl your way?

Happy Birthday opso!
November 7th, 2008 at 12:14 am
I am number 2....
November 7th, 2008 at 12:17 am
Hm, to me, if the girl is wearing a ring on her left ring finger, she's not available. I've heard some girls will wear a ring there, even if they're single, so they don't get hit on as much.
Face it, some guys see the ring there, and they don't give a rip - they don't care cause they only want one thing.
That's the first place I look to see if a gal is single. Well, at least I USED to, when I was "hunting."
Wearing a "fake" ring on that finger will chase potential suitors away, in my opinion.
November 7th, 2008 at 12:37 am
Happy Birthday opso!!!
I fully expect Shauna to show up at the Triad Party with one of these rings on each of her fingers, maybe toes too!!
bamboohouse808 proving that he really is "number 2"
Good Night BEEHive!!!

happy birthday opso!! (hey, shouldn't i be saying happy birthday to myself if i'm the evil twin???! hee hee...
)
the ring thing? i dunno if it would work... do you think all the single guys will know "hey, that chick is wearing a blue-striped ring! i'm gonna go check her out, 'cause i know FOR SURE she's single." heh?
when i was single, my friends used to ask me "was he wearing a ring?" or would tell me "he wasn't wearing a ring!" me, i was so unobservant that i had no idea (but, my married friends knew if there was a ring or not... WWD? oops, sorry, qb!)!! but, a ring wasn't a surefire indicator if a guy was married, though... either that, or i was lied to a bunch of times. hahahahaha... go figure!
November 7th, 2008 at 2:10 am
BF scores again!
Happy Birthday opso!
I can't see how that ring could work very well since it goes against what most men already assume. Easier to advertise your availability by posting an ad on craigslist and save the 39.95.
November 7th, 2008 at 2:44 am
opso, you da man of da day. Congrats my friend.
I agree, if I see a ring, I going assume she's taken. Me no can see too good even with my progressive lens anyway.
It's true many married guys won't wear rings. I can't at work for safety reasons. (I don't want to get electrocuted or lose my finger when using power tools.) But I not going act like I still single (I forget how after being married 26 years). Besides my ring doesn't fit. No, not because I became bigger (Muscular, even under that fat). I used to carry it real close to my heart (in my wallet) But was afraid to lose it, so I have it in my case at home. Our original wedding band is in our safety deposit box.
As for someone being single. It's their choice. It takes mighty powers to be single. When they ready (right Shauna?) And when the right person comes along (Get real, not going be THAT hottie) that will sweep you of your feet (No, not the janitor, unless that person is a hottie and used to be a K-drama star). Than I say, congratulations, am I invited to the wedding?
To BEE continued.....................
November 7th, 2008 at 3:33 am
OK back for little while BEEfore I go back to bed. (Dangit dogs, hurry up and DOO it BEEfore I go bed)
Comment on last night's comments. I agree that the HoneyBEEs here are hotties. They are sensitive, caring, loving, and can dish it out and take it in with the rest of us. I admire everybody in this blogosphere family. Hey, I'm a mnuch's Uncle remember? And snow's too. I'm old enough to be everybody's uncle, except for some of my brothers
TDK brought back some memories too. See the end of yesterday's post. That's me with the triad leaders IRL (in real life). They are an awesome group. You will have fun at the Pahty. Blow up that pic and put it on a stick and have a drink (hard or soft) with me. I'll be there in spirit.
Thanks gang for letting me have fun.
As the "Official" Welcoming committee, I welcome one and all to the hive. We have some new members joining in and many sitting on the side wondering if it's safe to come inside. Please feel free to join in the conversation. If it starts to get all wacky, and expect it to always go off topic, don't BEE afraid to jump in if you like. Remember it's ALL TALK. We run the gamut from the stay at homes to the work their butts off. From the LAYman to the Careerminded. Young and old. Male and female (so far no shims, but they welcome too) BUT we are share the ALOHA with one and all.
The "secret place" is also open to you. Ask our Queen ShaunaBEE how to find it. But BEEware, it can get crazier there. Bamboohouse808 and Neo, hope to see you there.
Ok pau. Now I can go check it out at the secret place to see the haps.

Happy BEEday opso
What's a ring
I haven't worn one in over a millennium....I don't wear any jewelry at all - rings, watch, bracelet, necklace, ear rings - nada. At least I'm not a prime candidate for a mugging
For all you "single" ppl:
It's a slow, painful process. but well worth it, when you find the right person..your soul mate and make a life founded on laughter and hope rather than holding on to one filled with frustration. Keeping the faith, and while struggling to make it from day to day, the pain goes from sharp and unbearable to dull and almost tolerable. And someday, when you've let your guard down, a pretty smile will light a small spark in your soul...suddenly you'll notice that your jeans are getting ragged and might even buy yourself a shirt or two and comb your hair more often. After all, the world shouldn't miss out on your best....
Will there be a 'union' at our very 1st TRIAD get together?

Morning All!!! Happy Feel Good Friday!!!
Back to the ring thing. Back in my pre-wife days, I wasn't akamai enough to even look for a ring. I guess I was too busy noticing everything else but their hands
So that singles ring thing wouldn't have stopped me. Although, many times intimidation took care of that for me too.

November 7th, 2008 at 8:11 am
I think most people don't even look or notice a ring and even if they did they wouldn't know if it's a "I'm single ring". I don't wear my ring for the same reason as Ynaku, for safety. I don't work with power tools but I could it get caught and could lose my finger.
Masako doesn't wear hers either. She works in the fuud industry and always wearing gloves so the ring will tear the gloves as she puts it on and she also works with commercial kitchen equipment.
November 7th, 2008 at 9:04 am
You know, I DO try to check if she's wearing a ring... but honestly, it doesn't matter, because to me, you can be friends with everyone... and isn't that what it's about anyway? Be friends first, then if you find that she's available, go for it at the next level, IF that's what she wants as well. You can't force it, ESPECIALLY not on a taken one (sometimes can go jail for that) HBD OPSO!!
NEO(hiho, and feelin' MUUUUUUUUCH better)
November 7th, 2008 at 9:16 am
Good Morning Hive!
When I first got married, I didn't wear a ring, BEEcause like Ynaku and M, I wanted to keep my finger. The thought of getting my ring caught in something and losing my finger was pretty chilling.
I initially wanted a titanium ring, just BEEcause of the "cool" factor - light, and super strong - but was told that if I were to get that thing caught on anything, or it got smashed on my finger, say aloha to the finger. With gold or platinum, it's soft enough to cut by a first responder, titanium would need a special cutter. That made my choice pretty easy after that.
Now that I have a desk job, I wear my ring. Now I get these nutty wahines who flirt with me, just to mess with my head. I KNOW they know I'm married - they see the ring - they just catching their jollies at my expense. Hm, kinda sounds like this place too.
Oh, Happy Birthday to braddah OPSO again!
Kick butt in Fantasy this week!
November 7th, 2008 at 9:53 am
I don't work real hard so I usually wear my ring.
I found more women will talk to you if you're wearing a ring. Don't know if they mistakenly think that ring=married=neutered=safe, or if it's the forbidden fruit thing.
BABIES
Sit down at Ala Moana with a stroller and baby. Women who would never have given you the time of day will come up, talk to you and let you know how cute you baby is...
UNTIL.....
you offer to make one for them too...
November 7th, 2008 at 9:57 am
HAPPY BIRTHDAY OPSO!!! hope it's super duper awesome, with whip cream, nuts & a hot chick on top! ok wait...maybe ix-nay on the uts-nay
anyway, i almost always notice a ring...it's not because i'm deciding whether or not the person is available, i just tend to notice. if you're in a place like say, a bar or club where you kinda EXPECT people to be on the prowl, honestly how many of them do you think really care if you're taken or single? like BF said some just want 1 thing and a ring isn't gonna stop them from trying to get it!
hmm....a blue stripe huh? can you imagine if someone is wearing a ring that looks similar but without the blue? what do you say? you walk up to the person all smooth going over what you wanna say in your head, then first thing you do is look at their hand & notice that it's NOT a single ring..."oh sorry, i thought that was a single ring! gotta go! "
funny you should mention wearing a fake ring.....
November 7th, 2008 at 10:08 am
i actually did that once. went to walmart to buy myself a fake-but-believable CZ because when i was working retail there was this guy who would come in at least every other day to talk to me & buy something useless like magnets, or nuts & bolts, or a piece of sandpaper...not like he was obvious!
anyway he would come in all the time and would stand in line at my register then hold up the line trying to talk to me. my co-workers used to tease me saying i had a "not so secret admirer" and my manager took me off register for a while but he would just wander around the store until he found me in an aisle which was WORSE because i couldn't use "customers in line" as an excuse
so i found one but it was pretty huge...huge=fake looking but it was a last ditch effort, and it was the only one in my size that wasn't colored
. it was $9.97 well spent because he noticed it right away (ok so everyone noticed it & laughed because they knew exactly why i was wearing it) and his face dropped, and he goes, "wow someone must really love you huh?" i almost felt bad for the guy....ALMOST!
November 7th, 2008 at 10:27 am
Da BEE hive stay slow today....
November 7th, 2008 at 10:29 am
If you're hot....... I got a fake ring on!
November 7th, 2008 at 10:34 am
LOL @ BL does your fake ring have a fake blue stripe on it too?
hey so QB what do YOU think of this "single ring" deal? i was thinking about it and i think it would just be easier to wear a ring with flashing lights on it that spell out, "I'M SINGLE" or "HIT ON ME" or "LEAVE ME ALONE" or if you get real big fingers, "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT TALKING TO ME" how much you think i could sell those for? heh heh
munch....not to be confused with shemp.
November 7th, 2008 at 10:37 am
@munch
That's a funny (yet creepy!
) story. When I worked retail, some of my female co-workers would tell me about guys like your "fanboy" that would come in and shop just to talk to them, and made sure they were in their line to check out and everything.
I like your solution - it saved his dignity as well, and you didn't have to have an embarrassing talk with him about how you weren't interested. Sure, he was crushed, and lucky for you too that he wasn't a psycho.
Oh, and thank you for not tormenting me! (You know, some people here like to do that to me.
)
November 7th, 2008 at 10:43 am
HAPPY BIRTHDAY OPSO!!! Have a BEEr or two!! I'll raise one (a BEEr) to you tonight brah.
Back in the day, many, many many decades ago when high schoolers hardly ever got any freely, wearing a ring on that finger meant you were taken (and getting). It was a badge proudly worn, usually. Me? I'd take mine off at social events away from my other just so I wouldn't get iced out. After, it'd go right back on.
Today, I don't wear mine except AT social functions. I work a lot with my hands, so having it on all the time becomes a safety issue. Plus, it's a symbol of love and I don't want it to get beat up.
November 7th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Morning! Gotta do a quickie again!
munch (definitely not shemp!): Just gotta say I give that guy credit! Buying magnets or a nut and bolt! LOL! I'm assuming you really were single at that time though. At least he noticed (I guess how could he not) that bling bling on you. Did he stop bothering you immediately after that? Poor guy! I think that single ring is silly. Unless it's heavily marketed and coming from a top jeweler, no one is even going to know. Best bet is if you're single to NOT wear any kind of ring on the wedding hand. Now of course a lot of "taken" but not married gals wear rings on the right hand so that does sort of complicate things. But I think NEO has got it right. Nothing wrong with BEEing friends with a single/married person and if you click and the person is available, take it from there...
BEE back later!
November 7th, 2008 at 10:50 am
Does that mean everyone attending the Triad pah-tay will be wearing the "I'm single ring"?
November 7th, 2008 at 10:52 am
Shauna doing a Quickie???

November 7th, 2008 at 11:06 am
QB doing the "HEAD" thing again with the "QUICKIES"
(NKHEA going back lie down now
)
November 7th, 2008 at 11:12 am
Masako not sure if she wants to go to the Triad pah-tay and get our pictures posted all over the blog for everyone to see. She just feels embarrass that everybody thinks we are a sex crazy couple but the truth is that we are not, we just enjoy being together and having a healthy sexual relationship. We'll see what happens...
BF: Shauna really enjoys the quickies...
November 7th, 2008 at 11:22 am
munch... i read your message to opso and went
when i read the part about the "nuts!" then i read "maybe ix-nay on the uts-nay" and totally cracked up!!!!
your poor lonely boy story (glad the ring worked!!) reminded me of the time i was working in retail and my boss had fatal attraction thing going on with a customer, who he made the mistake of dropping her off at home one day when it was pouring rain. like him, i assumed she was harmless - kind of geeky, FOB-ish, quiet, shy, cardigan and glasses - that kind of girl. but, after that, she started coming in all the time and bringing him food (sometimes, she'd give him drinks that weren't full?! eeww... !!), following him around the store and, eventually, even into our back offices and stockroom!! one day, he was training me at the register and she stood nearby, giving me stink eye for over an hour!!
after that, i started watching my back for her!! i was also the one who found her in his office, in our back office and in the stockroom!! she totally freaked me out!!! after i told my boss that i wasn't feeling safe with her around, he yelled at her to not come back (he had told her many times before, but it didn't work) - i guess that finally scared her off! phew!! but, hey... munch... i smell a new business venture!!! but rings are kind of small... what about those dog collars with that scrolling marquee writing? you could change the message to match your mood (maybe it needs to change color with your mood, too... ?). some sample messages:
hot to trot
i like nuts with my cherries (i'm thinking about opso's "sundae!")
buy me drinkee?
don't bother (insert eyeroll here)
do i look like i'm interested?
November 7th, 2008 at 11:23 am
Shauna and other HoneyBEES-
Don't know if you guys know about it but ZALES marketed a RIGHT hand ring... supposedly to "affirm your independence..." something like that. oh here's the link...
http://gilletts.com.au/information.php?info_id=48
interesting enough I suppose.
NEO
November 7th, 2008 at 11:28 am
ack! are all our pictures going to be on the blog if we go to the partay??? or only on the secret place???
m & masako - have fun at the beachhouse this weekend!!
you lucky bums!! but, you both gotta come to the partay, too!!
November 7th, 2008 at 11:31 am
M, I don't know. We live within shouting distance of each other in our quiet upper Palolo. I hear some pretty strange noises at night and think, "hmm, what is M up to?" Ha Ha, just kidding. But it is really quiet up there. Come party!
November 7th, 2008 at 11:41 am
I think M is the sex-crazed one, judging by his posts, and Masako is "caught in the wake."
Hey, it's snow! Here early today, eh? Wanted to start the Banana tormenting early?
Nah, nah, sorta joking. hee hee hee.
November 7th, 2008 at 11:42 am
Scott: I keep telling masako to be quiet so the neighbors can't hear us.....LOL
November 7th, 2008 at 11:58 am
ahhh snow it's always "those" that turn nuts huh? thank goodness i don't wear cardigans....hahaha j/k
but QB to answer your question, my "buddy" didn't stop right away. he came by for the next week or so and each time was real obvious that he was checking to see if i was wearing it. i would keep it in my pocket & only put it on when i saw him coming toward the door. he stopped coming in for manini stuff & actually bought everything he needed in a couple trips instead of taking 2 weeks buying things 1 by 1
i was single at the time and not sure what it was about him that just freaked me out...it could have been his excessive sweat, or the fact that he was about 15 years older than me...or maybe it was because he had that stare much like AY-MUH-LUH....OH!
AY-MUH-LUH should try these rings out!!!!
November 7th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
BananaFysh - Ahh, I guess I am too transparent. Yes, Banana, I'm on early for the express purpose of tormenting you.
*bwahahahahahahahahaha...
uh oh... did anyone hear that? oooooh, time to change the batteries in the halo!!!*
November 7th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
hmm good idea about the dog collars...maybe we can do headbands too! i'm gonna make mine say "shempalicious"
here's some more:
"i'm desperate"
"will shower for date"
"i am NOT a shim!"
and for the guys hmm maybe we could make those bracelets like the livestrong ones?
"no that's not a banana in my pocket..."
"i AM banana"
"wanna helicopter?"
"chamonga inspector"
ok going to lunch...i'll ponder during my meal haha
November 7th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
munch - the description of your not so secret admirer is grossing me out!
that excessive sweat will do them in, every time.
blech!! (actually, reminds me of the uji guy from my office!)
*frantically gathering all cardigans and tossing them out the window*
November 7th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
I feel the apprehension about not having pics posted on the blog. I wholly agree it would NOT BEE a good thing unless they give permission of course.
How about the triad gather the pics together and either post it in the secret place or email it to those that want it. I for one would love to have it emailed to me. The triad leaders have our email unless we used bogus kind (hope not)
I don't want dear snow to not BEE there for fear of disclosure. We need to protect our identity cause WEE don't know who's lurking. Could BEE our boss spying on us as to why we are snorting at our desks when we should BEE working. *snort snort*
They also might BEE wondering how come we gotta call IT to change our keyboards cause we spit out our coffee or coke. And why we always wiping our monitors.
See Uncle Ynaku gotta protect the HoneyBEEs. No like weirdos
stalking our precious BEEs
especially if us not there for back them up.
Ynaku, the protector of the HoneyBEEs.
November 7th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
Ok BEE back laters. Going take my Grand daughter shopping for Pull-Ups. She no like the Dydees. We gotta print out a Princess design but Disney ones are copyrighted so no can use. Gotta come up with new models. Any volunteers? You get to wear your prom dress again (if it still fits) Or we can airbrush it on.
November 7th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Hey BEES,
Just checking in......builders came by and ripped out the siding on the corner of the house. Seems the grab bar that was installed was leaking and water ran down and along the framing on the bottom. The corner of the house is "exposed" right now and getting a blow job  .......with a big fan to dry things out.
Hahahahahahahaha..........sorry, but there's HUMOR in everything.
Hoping everything works out......seems so. Carry on....
OL....smiling again
November 7th, 2008 at 12:25 pm
Happy Friday WOOHOO!!!
Anyway, this ring thing (nice rhyme) is getting out of hand. Now I gotta check not only what hand to ring is on right or left, but if get rock or not. Too much stress already. Seriously thought this seems like a way for someone to make lots of money (IDK maybe I'm jealous cause I didn't come up with it).
I guess we should get one for Superbowl Ad girl.
myama99 (time for lunch)
November 7th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Hey Munch,
You saving one of them "Chamonga Inspector" bracelets for me?
As far as posting our pics, since our blog hosts posts THEIRS.....seems only fair to let them post OURS. Just my opinion.
OL.....no shame he ugly
November 7th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
Sorry, another quickie!
A little longer one this time...
Ocean Lover: Hope your blow job turns out OK. Extend the time if needed to make sure the job gets done right the first time...
Ukuhead: Welc... wait!
You totally cracked me up again! Yeah, that whole "forbidden fruit" idea is kinda interesting. That is bad but some people I'm sure find that part of the challenge. I like that Ala Moana scenario:
BABIES
Sit down at Ala Moana with a stroller and baby. Women who would never have given you the time of day will come up, talk to you and let you know how cute you baby is…
UNTIL…..
you offer to make one for them too…
NEO: Now that you mention, I think I do remember hearing about that Zales ring...
Regarding all your concerns on the blog pictures, I definitely want to get some with all of you. Personally, I'm not going to post them on O&E unless I get your permission. And even then, I'll ask if you want me to use your screen name or your real name (so no one knows, except of course people who really know you, what name you write under) or prefer to stay anonymous.
Rod, Lance and I were talking about nametags the other day also. What's the best way to do it? You want people to know your screen name only, your real name only or both? Let each person decide on their own?
My biggest concern is that you don't want to show up BEEcause you want to protect your identity. I don't want that to stop you from coming out.
M: I'm sure you have a healthy relationship that makes you the envy of the rest. Please tell Masako that The Hive doesn't judge!!
November 7th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
@munch - okay, put me down for a couple of those bracelets. I like one that says:
"No that's not a Banana in my pocket, but I AM happy to see you."
and
"HoneyBEE spanking target."
For Queenie, make her a few headbands:
"Queen of the Quickie"
"Dirty is the new Innocent"
and
"Caulk Master"
@snow
Ah, yes, I knew it! Doesn't it feel good to just admit it?
Uhm, what kinda halo is that? Why does ... it... need... batteries.... ?
You bought your halo from the same place Barry the Beaver came from!
Nah, nah, nah!! Just kidding! no slap me!
@OL - Make sure you get that buggah blown until you're satisfied. There's nothing worse than having it blown part way.
Oh, and when they fill the hole, make sure they use a LOT of caulk. And make sure it's not the runny kine. Tell them you want lots of THICK CAULK to FILL THAT HOLE.
November 7th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Masako - No worry, the HIVE doesn't judge... the HIVE wants a class!! LOL... just kidding... I think... ?!?
munch - Oohh, think I smell money (no, not that KIND!)! "shempalicious" is totally funny! I'll be brainstorming... hey, can I do that by myself (no, not THAT!)?
qb - your comment to OL "Hope your blow job turns out OK. Extend the time if needed to make sure the job gets done right the first time…" -
'kay, gotta work
November 7th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
BananaFysh - Dere you go again, slipping in! Anyway, where did you get IT from ("Oh, never mind, I get it!")?
*having "technical difficulties" - no can be witty when ya gotta work!*
November 7th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
@Shauna -
I need a serious cold shower now! OMG!!
I agree with Ynaku - need clearance from each BEE BEE DEE or HoneyBEE BEEfore posting pics on the blog. The secret place is okay though. What does Tsai do? Does he put reader/poster pics on his blog? Hm, actually, I think he does. I dunno if he asks for permission first.
November 7th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
@snow - Where did I get "it" from? The same place I get everything else from - my mind.

Or as you other peeps call it, "the gutter."
November 7th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
BananaFysh: Did I misread something? I BEElieve that's what OL said. What are you talking about??
I like my signature headbands from you. Haha! I think I'll go with the first one. Time is precious so gotta hurry and get the job done.
So do we need to create one for you that says Mr. Poundmaster or Bad Banana?
munch: Great bracelet wording! I like the helicopter one the best. Was that word born from our MIA birthday boy opso?

November 7th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
anklebiters: No, I never knew about 1-800-goog-411. Isn't that kinda like that 411 number? Thanks for sharing!
M: Have a great weekend at the beach house!!
NKHEA: Uh-oh, hope you get better soon! No surfing for you tomorrow. Stay in and rest! I'm so tired today at work. I can't stop yawning!
MayBEE it's the weather again.
GoodBEEr: So back in the day, the ring was considered a good thing to wear but you would take yours off??
Ynaku: Those are some touching words you wrote regarding the ring, BEEing single and The Hive .
And thanks for doing a great job welcoming and encouraging new Hive members! And I gotta ask, did munch do you proud with her fake ring episode?
November 7th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
@Shauna - Hm, I REALLY think your head band should BEE
"Dirty is the New Innocent"
Ooh, I like your suggestions for my headbands!
I think opso's headband should BEE:
OPSOdesiac
So what, if munch is Shemp, who are the other 3?
Is Queenie = Moe?
They would need headbands too, for those names!
"MOE-Town"
"Come MOE my lawn"
"You want a MOE job?"
"Just say MOE"
"Hil-LARRY-ous"
"LARRY-tastic"
"CURLY-riffic"
"I get CURLY hair, but not up here"
November 7th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Good afternoon - I'm not worried about the Hive judging, like Ynaku mentioned what if my boss is out there lurking or heaven forbid my boss is one of the people posting.....nah I doubt that. This island is so small.
Hey Snow wouldn't it have been a trip if we hadn't figured out that we knew each other and than found out at the Triad party?
Well looking forward to a weekend of catching up with old friends, getting some sunshine and time in the ocean. I'm planning on making some killer nachos.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Hey Masako-
What should it matter? We're all consenting adults... If yo' boss goin' make dakine huhu li'dat... dass kinna mess up 'eh you no t'ink so?! okay, sorry, I'm not much of a pidgin talker... Anyway though, I understand what you're saying, but your boss should realize that hey, I'm a consenting adult, just as you are, and HE/SHE shouldn't judge you... I dunno what the others think but "dass mah 2 cents!"

Ooh, nachos sound good!
BananaFysh: Of course, I like my cheese on the SIDE. Can't get those chips getting soggy! So I'm supposed to BEE Moe? I don't like any of those Moe phrases. Give me more!
Good one for opso though!
munch: Haha, good comeback on the curly hairs!!
The Dork Knight: I don't ever check out craigslist. Are there people looking for dates on there??
myama99: Don't think you can make that much money off that trinket! Then again, if it costs under a $1 to make, that is good profit...

Ynaku - You're so "on it," Ynaku!! I don't mind having my picture taken - not sure if I want it on the blog, but definitely sure I don't want any real name attached! Even not sure about a screen name, if only for the fact that I don't know who might be lurking. I mean, I already gotta worry about the walls having ears... I don't need to be advertising that I'm posting here instead of working!?! By the way, I'm old enough to be munch's auntie or mother, so you're not much older than I am... but, I call you Uncle because you're always taking care of us! So, thank you, Uncle Ynaku!

We don't judge. All that innuendos are all in fun. I don't think we go around and saying it in everyday conversation. As Neo said, we are consenting adults but I don't think we are like that in real life And yes, this is a small world and as was mentioned many many times, it takes all kinds to make the world go round.
I feel M & Masako are just having fun. You can tell how we responded in the past. We all playing along. Right? This is all fun and play. I bet at the triad get together, most would bee well behaved and revert to our online persona only in fun.
Shauna in reference to munch comments,
she makes me proud.
Thanks BF for understanding my reasoning.
OK pau being serious. Now where was I?
November 7th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
@munch - okay, I guess I'll take your word for it.
Mine are curly. haha!
Funny, I went in the "Way-Back Machine" and followed The Dork Knight's link at the end of yesterday's blog, to see the origin of the Musketeers. Dang, we sure talked about bodily functions a lot!
Geez, The Dork Knight must really BEE a detective to have found the origin of that phrase!

Maybe can have couple quick ones Saturday afternoon. How's that?
November 7th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
The Dork Knight: Thanks again for that link. It was in that post that I read one of the funniest ever comments. Snorted big time! I don't know why I will never forget it!
This is what NKHEA said about you:
maybe he going lure us all there and dork us to death
come to think of it you stay planing something with him oh wat
Don’t know about The Dork Knight he seem’s spooky to me
Your reply was:
I’ve been called lots of things in my life but “spooky” is a first. No worry. I’m not a stalker or anything like that. Remember, I might really be QB in disguise!
Then it started that whole scandal if you and I were the same person! Almost forgot about that one! LOL!
Teejay: And we have YOU to thank for the birth of the musketeers since it was you who asked me to name them! If you didn't ask about the fourth one, munch wouldn't BEE here today!
November 7th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
Ynaku: Sorry I didn't have your work e-mail so I sent to the one you use when you comment... Let me know if you didn't get it!
NKHEA: I was talking to Rod today and we are likely to BEE leaning toward your place! Can you give us a few more days?

anklebiters: I say go for it!
Hey, I found a story for you! BTW, I'm going golfing tomorrow. I'm going to try and stump you on my score with the calculus-like price and green fees equation you did to me!
On a roll: Golfer records 5 holes-in-one in a week
Associated Press
KAPPA, Ill. —Central Illinois amateur golfer Curt Hocker is on a roll. Five rolls, to be exact. Just ask anyone at the El Paso Golf Club, where the 22-year-old has recorded five holes-in-one in the last week, including two on Saturday. In this year alone, Hocker has seven aces, five on par-4s, and two other double eagles.
"I don't know what to think," said Hocker, who works in the club's pro shop. "After each one I say it's over, and it keeps happening."
Friends and family, 15 of whom have witnessed Hocker's strokes of luck while playing with him, are equally mystified.
"It's incomprehensible this kind of luck could happen, but it does happen," said El Paso pro Steve Fulton. "There are other things in life that have been just as weird and eerie that have happened. What are the odds?"
Hocker said he's just glad that his club membership comes with "hole-in-one insurance."
That "insurance" means the club - and not Hocker - has to honor the golf tradition of buying everyone in the clubhouse a drink after an ace is made.
"I think the golf course is getting mad at me for all the drinks," Hocker said. "It's hard to talk about, but it's awesome to have it happen."
November 7th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Shauna going golf??!! I like see how she swing, check out her grip, and watch her strokes and putting. No need use glove. It takes away from the true feel.
November 7th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
bamboohouse808: Don't position yourself BEEhind me cause sometimes I miss when I tee off and swing around. My club may end up thumping you on the head! No gloves? I actually use two! One for each hand!
How many strokes do you think I'm good for?
November 7th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
I lurked all day and now I'm here! Yay!
I don't wear much jewelry, so if I need a man deterrent when I go out without my other half, I just use one of my boys as a replacement. We are close enough so that I can just cling to one of them and get all kissy face without looking or feeling uncomfortable.
@BananaFysh: You might not be able to get a helicopter landing when you come into the party, but maybe you'll be able to get a takeoff upon exit!
Fort St. Bar & Grill sounds fun too!
November 7th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Syxx: You're a lucky girl! Though I wonder how many men have the guts to approach a woman when she's already with another guy! Hello...
And thanks for thinking it was BananaFysh who is interested in that helicopter ride! I'm going to catch my jollies over that one! Heh heh!
BTW, when do you normally get your work schedule? Sounds like you and I both have inconsistent night and weekend schedules.

Hey Syxx, that wasn't me who wanted the helicopter rides! I just wanted spankings.
HA HA!
Oh, so you use your friends as "uji guy repellent." Ah, BEEn there, done that. I mean, I was the repellent, not the repelled. Well, not YET anyways.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OPSO!!!!!
single ring? now that's a gimic if i ever heard of one...i say just don't wear a ring on the left ring finger if you're available. if you not married but you are "taken" in some form, then maybe that gets kinda iffy. i think the daily dish had something about dropping the "gf" or "bf" label in casual conversation just to let the other person know if you're taken.
some people are pretty pushy even if the other person has a significant other. if that happens to me, i'd be outta there in a flash. learned the lesson the hard way...you'll always be the #2, side salad. letting her have her cake and eat it too. not a fun way to live life. if you're on theother side of the equation, i'd say be up front about it and let them know right away (in a way that doesn't sound conceited i guess) if you're available or not. i guess that "bf" or "gf" label drop is a good way cause then you can still be friends and that's always a good thing.
November 8th, 2008 at 12:15 am
chee huu, if i get my mug posted in this blog, i'm gonna make sure i wear huge advertising stuff from my work places all over! hat, logo scarf, tshirt with big silk-screened logo on the front, jacket with big logo on the back, shoes with logos, and of course the blinging jewelry (i'll also wear a huge shiny silver ring with the blue stripe going around it...anyone know what finger to wear that on?) hehehehe, talk about getting free advertising with the HA huh? nah nah, just kidding.
so this party happening next friday? i'm having a hard time finding someone to switch with me but i'll keep trying. if not, i'll try to swing by right after work. hopefully i'm not all smelling like coffee or anything. haha.

Not a dirty play, but WOW, that dude got his bell rung!
@NKHEA - I think Queenie is out gripping the shafts, getting some good strokes in, and trying to get those balls in the hole.
She's quite the swinger, eh?
Eh, the party not next week! In 2 weeks! On the 21st!
November 8th, 2008 at 3:51 pm

Oh QB aka QPP, golfing
today
November 8th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
@NKHEA - oh yeah, I think she might have gone golfing too.
Chee-hoo! Looking forward to meeting the rest of the hive! No shame you BEES!
I have a suggestion for sharing party pics - mayBEE Shauna could have a Picasa album, or a private photobucket account, and only the BEEs with a password or an email from her could access it, so no need worry about anonymous lurkers spying on the Hive. She could control who has access to the pics, and if someone REALLY doesn't want their pic up. even on that account, they can BEE cropped out, or Photoshopped out.
Queenie knows or has access to all the posters' email addys, so she can verify as she goes, right Queenie?
November 8th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
Howzit Teejay, NKHEA, BANANA, and all you uddah BEES. Only reason I "called those buggahs out" is BEEcause I pretty much only saw THEIR POSTS today as all da uddah BEES BEE out playing.
BEEg volleyball match tonight.....Kamehameha vs. THE DREADED, THE DAUNTING, THE EVIL PUNAHOU! They not really "evil", yet anytime one plays PUNAHOU.......you know what I mean.

Thanking all you supporting BEES in advance.

November 8th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Teejay,
No COSTCO gas filling today. Filled on a weekday this past week and only took 15 minutes!
Went to Starbuck's to get a cup of coffee and while waiting in line looked at the treats in the display case. Scones were $2.25 and I thought "Hmm.....kinda expensive cause they're not BEEg" then saw the "mini vanilla scones" about the size of an oreo cookie @ $0.95. The way the economy's going....I DON'T THINK SO.
Anklebiters - The only thing that Arizona's famous for is RATTLESNAKE, right?
OL.........getting psyched up for V-Ball

Teejay; tanks for the company today
See ya all tomorrow
November 8th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Hope everyone in The Hive is having a great Saturday!
Got back from golfing! It was a BEE-utiful day outside!
OK, let's see who can guess my score!
Here are some hints:
- Game cost me just about 25 cents a stroke
- Average strokes per hole was about five
- Total yardage was 2,223
Best news yet: I got TWO, not one, but TWO pars!! That's never happened to me BEEfore! I probably only got like three pars in my whole golf career.
Other interesting tidbits: Had my all-time favorite fried rice to start the day. Enjoyed a scrumptious chocolate banana mochi cream. That went down good. Had a fabulous pasta with opah in a spicy sauce. Hot, hot, hot! Got to end it all with a tart lemon sorbetto! Mmm!
Congrats to the Warriors also! Hope Ocean Lover's team also won!
Thanks for keeping The Hive buzzing today!

Hello.
Shauna,
Where did you play at? I was golfing today. I thought I saw someone who looked liked you but I was to chicken to go up to her. Were you wearing short shorts? : )
Congrats on your two pars. What holes did you get that on? Were they Par 5's?
Your day sounds great. All that food sounds so good.
November 8th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Shauna: you play golf? that's pretty much all I need to know.
The Warriors are a true enigma. They have the ability to pull off great wins against quality programs like Fresno St and Nevada yet lose to San Jose St and much more disconcerting...Utah St. No offense to Utah St fans, but your team sucks so props for figuring out a way to win. Dan Kelly is a head case right now. We all saw him deliver last year so we know he can do it. The fact that he can't now is like losing the rhythm and timing of the golf swing: shank here, duff there (right, Shauna?). The Warriors did win but I will say one thing that I'm still shaking my head about: punt on 4th and 9 on the NM 35??? If you won't try for a FG, don't you have to go for it??? Afterall, we are the Warriors, aren't we? If the Warriors can win a couple more games, they'll make the Hawaii Bowl and we won't have to talk about defense and special teams.

Hey Shauna where'd you play? I'm playing Navy/Marine tomorrow, can't wait, been about a month. You're a beginner, right? Did you find a set of clubs?
BTW, there's a Chinese/American buffett at Ward that calls itself "the most excellent American/Chinese buffet in Honolulu". The food has been sitting in my stomach for 2 hours now.....I beg to differ.
Look forward to the Triad party. I met Lance on Friday at the Advertiser building, we both agreed that it'll be quite easy to spot me:) LOL. Good times, good times. Happy Saturday night everybody.

Wade: Since the queen isn't or doesn't seem be be around, well said regarding the Warriors. I'm one of their biggest fans and actually did a stint on the marching band back in the day (can we all say 'Band Geek!'). Dan Kelly needs to forget about last year and concentrate at the task at hand which is points after and field goals and forget about trying to match last years exploits. Queen must be tired because I know how she is regarding her hive and her bees.
25 cents per stroke? Shauna, I'll buy that for a dollar!
November 8th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Queen, my score guess is 97... About 10 strokes better than me...
November 8th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
@Shauna -
Enough talk! We want FUUD PICS!
What is a "chocolate banana mochi cream" anyways? Sounds like something I would BEE involved in. Oooh, and if that's true, then I "went down" good.

.
Guess the score time? I guess 99 - just cause that's my lucky number.
Must BEE knocked out after BEEing in the sun all day, huh Queenie?
November 8th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Oh Yeah! Kamehameha won the State Girls Varsity V-Ball Championship! They swept theevil Punahou Buff and Blue 3-0! And on top of that I got a free t-shirt that they threw into the crowd! When that happened mid-way through the match......I KNEW it was over!
Just got home now.............wow! Past my beddy bye time.
Mahalo for the "hoodoos".
OL........I IS DA CHAMPION!!!!!
November 9th, 2008 at 12:10 am
@OL - Yeah! Right on!
Sorry, but I was pulling for KS-Maui last night.
Dat's okay though, as long as Punahou never win. They win everything else anyways! So what, did those Punahou fans sit in the Kamehameha fan section again? WWD anyways? So ODD. Go sit in your own cheering section! Some PEEps, I tell you.
November 9th, 2008 at 12:18 am
Goonai hivahs! I see you all tomorrow...
November 9th, 2008 at 11:07 am
Shauna:
9 or 18 holes? Kanehoe Bay View? Score of 90 and costs $22
November 9th, 2008 at 11:13 am
Shauna:
The secret place has pictures of John Daly and Phil Mickelson at the FBR Open....
November 9th, 2008 at 11:15 am
Gas is now at $2.33.... wooooo hooooo
November 9th, 2008 at 11:21 am
Watched the game on my DVR early this morning as it was being shown at 12:30am on Fox AZ delayed. Too many penalties and the OL is still a work in progress. Two long TD receptions for NMS...they were wide open, behind the secondaries
It was nice to see the R&S again being executed the way it was suppose to....I envisioned Graunke doing what GA was doing in this game from the game one...I wonder if he's ever going to play in another game this season.

Teejay: Hey, I was in your neck of the woods yesterday!
Scott: I played at Hawaii Kai. Have fun playing today!! Weather still looks good! I just ended up getting a set from Sports Authority. I think the clubs are too long for me. I also have weak wrists, bad technique and lots of other problems. Heehee. But it's only for fun so what the heck?
Hmm, never ate at the buffet so thanks for the heads up. So you're easy to spot, huh? Well, I can't wait to meet you that night!
#131: Short shorts? I'd BEE guilty of that! Haha!
Kidding! Par 5 holes? Well a par 3 is kinda close to that, right?
Yup, loved all that food and I still got leftovers for dinner tonight!
anklebiters: Wow, you are pretty good. 90 was my score! The green fees were a few bucks more. I was hoping to trick you but you really know your golf! It was 18 holes but a par 3 course. Heh heh. But getting two pars is still awesome, right?
NEO: Sorry to hear you can't make the Triad Party!!! That sucks to have a meeting that night but I know why you have to BEE there. Sucks for us though.
Let us know if anything changes!!
BananaFysh: Cheater!!! (Post #125!) You got some explaining to do. (I know it's impossible but picture me with hands on hips huffing and puffing over you.) Kidding! (Not sure how much you BEElieve that already!) Anyways, getting back to those comments, you want me to learn how to PhotoShop and use Photobucket? So complicated! Can't you do that for me?
November 9th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
Wade, Teejay and anklebiters: Sorry I can't really add any opinions to the game plays, strategy, etc... I can barely see where the ball is during the play and I didn't even know touchback was a real word until recently! LOL! These road games suck since we can't watch it live together on O&E!
Ocean Lover: Wow! A victory and free T-shirt? What are the ODDS? Must BEE because you are a true ODDS and Enders!
Heehee! Anyways, glad to hear it! And yeah, those Starbucks desserts are so expensive.
Speaking of pricey, went to a movie last night and I can't BEElieve tickets are nearly $10 each. I'm hoping the theaters start losing business and mayBEE they might lower the prices. And since I just gotta have movie popcorn and icees, it only makes you realize more how overpriced everything is. Grr...
BananaFysh: That chocolate banana mochi cream was a chocolate-type mochi with a rich banana mochi-cream filling. Very sweet and quite thick. It also had some chocolate bits in the banana cream. Also had a raspberry one. Got them from Shirokiya.
anklebiters: Wow, I don't know what the gas is for us now. I haven't filled up yet since the last time I went to Costco...
M: Glad to hear you're having a blast at the beach house! So lucky!
NKHEA: Hope you're feeling better! No surfing today again?
honda si boy: Keep us posted on if your schedule is clear for the 21st! And why you want to BEE a walking advertisement? These brand-name companies are smart. They get the people overpaying for their items also helping them with free advertising. Don't fall into the trap!! Kidding!
November 9th, 2008 at 3:39 pm
So the person I did see playing golf was you. I was also at Hawaii Kai. So if you were at Hawaii Kai and the average cost per shot was $0.25 and average per hole was 5, then I think I know your score. anklebiters's guess is really close to my guess.
November 9th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
@Shauna -
I was wondering why you were calling me a cheater.... until I looked back and realized I spelled my name wrong!
Sorry! My bad! hee hee.
Oh my! I'm picturing it with me lying on my back.... and you, uhm, uhhh, never mind. hee hee hee.
Picture you with hands on hips huffing and puffing over me?
Hehe. No worries, I can do the Photoshop work. I'm thinking if someone wants their face pixillated out, that's easy. The Picasa stuff is pretty easy. I GUESS I could help with that too.
The humbug part with the web sharing option is captioning. I think it would BEE better if you handled the password handling duties, since you know everyone's email address.
November 9th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
@Shauna
Hey, just like me!
Hm, sounds interesting. I think I'll have to go to Shirokiya to check that out.
So, where was the fried rice and opah pasta from?
November 9th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Shauna:
Pars are better than bogies any day
Have you watched any golf movies - The Legend of Baggar Vance, Tin Cup, The Greatest Game Ever Played, Stroke of Genius....? If you have the chance, you should attend the Sony Open in January, doesn't the HA receive complimentary tickets to the event? Or at least attend the Pro-Am day of the tournament. You can bring your camera and obtain player autographs.
Do I hear the 1st Annual BEE Hive Open coming soon?
November 10th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
sorry that i'm just getting back to this post now...
anklebiters: ooh, a first annual bee hive open!! if this blog is doing good next year, i think we should do it!! will you definitely be here to help me lead it?
i've been to the sony open a couple times. have you? actually i think i got a hat from there. i should give it to you (never used) since i don't wear them anyway!
BF: fried rice was from asahi grill and pasta was from assaggios. yeah, you should definitely check out shirokiya when you're here cause you'll probably find lots of sweets...
November 11th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
Shauna:
Go to the secret place and you'll see pics I took at the FBR open here a couple of years ago.
Maybe HA will sponsor a couple of gifts.....year supply of the newspaper
November 11th, 2008 at 3:50 pm
anklebiters: or better than the year subscription...win-a-date-with-an-H.A.-employee.....hmmm, who would the people pick? who would the guys pick?
November 11th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
HSiB:
oooooohhhhhhhhh....I know of the perfect person for the win-a-date
....Male winner will have to do-a-Bon-Jovi makeover....
November 13th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
anklebiters: oh oh, i better not win...just shaved off all my hair. i need a wig! haha.
